Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
Success is all about pushing new boundaries. As T.S. Eliot rightly puts it, “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.” And Aditya Birla Group undoubtedly proves it. From operating as a small business venture to becoming a multibillion-dollar corporation, ABG has come a long way in offering innovative products and services. Reaching out to millions globally through investment in 14 industry sectors, the conglomerate has achieved global leadership in several businesses. From connecting the world with Vodafone Idea to building roads and improving connectivity with Ultratech Cement, ABG has made a big impact in each and every one of our lives.
I remember, when I was in school, my mother would always make sure that the food in my lunch box remained fresh and warm until my lunch break. Freshwrapp kitchen foil was her ideal companion in this regard. When I was in college and there was a dire need to have a good collection of clothing essentials in my closet, brands like Forever 21 came to the rescue. When looking for a one-stop-shop for the entire family during festivals and other occasions, Pantaloons have always been a go-to choice for most of us. When it was the time for my interview at IIM Ranchi, I clearly remember how happy and proud I was to get my first suit from Van Heusen with my own salary. Today, as I start my MBA journey with a mind full of dreams and passion, I try to inculcate the five values that Aditya Birla Group tries to uphold- Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed.
How have I made an impact?
Ever since I took up management as a course during my under-graduation, I made it a target to achieve big in life- and pursuing an MBA from one of the premier institutes in the country was my only goal. So, as I graduated from college, I started preparing for the CAT exam from day one. It was not quite easy for me as I was poor in quantitative. The results came out in the month of January and to my utter disappointment, I could not make it to the top institutes with an average score.
However, backing out was never an option. The commitment was my only drive throughout the entire tenure. And giving up on this value would have made me look like a fool. I decided to get back on track, keeping my disappointment aside. This time, I committed myself to not only preparing for the exam but also, preparing for the life ahead. I joined a start-up where I worked as an SEO executive and handled the various off-page SEO work for clients of the firm. The work was all new to me but the flexibility of the working schedule made it easier for me to not only catch up with what I had to do in the organization, but it also gave me some free hours to prepare for my exam.
Eventually, this time I made it- irrespective of the rigor that I had to go through as a fresher with little knowledge when it came to the corporate world. But for me, the key learning from the process was Commitment, Commitment, and only Commitment. There is no such thing as a permanent failure. It is only a precedent of success.
