With an active customer base of more than 10 million, it should not have come as a surprise of how deep Aditya Birla Group had sunk its roots and had made a cozy spot in my life. I was unaware of the extent until I got the opportunity to research on them. It was during my internship at an advertising agency when I was given the task to analyze the brand communication of Madura Group and their 24 competitors for a month. For those who aren’t aware of who they are, the Madura Group is one of the rapidly growing fashion retail companies consists of popular fashion brands like Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Philippe.

The research I conducted showed me how the brands stood out way ahead of their competitors. The communication of each advertisement concisely presents all the information a consumer needs while also creating an aspirational need for the users. Even though the company has all the figures to prove its success, the intangible asset of trust has made it a part of every house. Over the years, I have learned to trust the quality of every garment they make- be it the last minute 9 pm birthday present I buy for my father or the impulse shopping decisions at Forever 21 during study breaks. What makes ABG even more interesting is the fact that it has something for everyone, every profile.

Aditya Birla Group, I believe, is on a steady path to more success. Their will to constantly grow and explore is inspiring which explains their diverse spectrum of brands they have to offer. It is hard to not acknowledge its magnificent contributions in the field of financial and telecom services, textile, construction, and manufacturing. Each industry is working in perfect tandem to build the world we want to live in, where the sun refuses to set.

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?

Throughout my 21 year journey on this planet, I’ve faced challenges of various degrees and proportions that have been pushed my limits and strength. The challenges have helped me decide who I am and who I want to be. They have been integral to my journey of self-discovery. In my life, there was one such moment that can help me illustrate how I approached most of the challenges.

The biggest obstacle I faced was in the last term of my college life. The last few months were always considered the most crucial academically and I had to juggle preparations for competitive exams, hosting fests and events, competitions, research work and assignments, and deadlines. Since it was my final year of college, I did not want to miss any opportunity that was thrown my way. My decision to not compromise and to work on all that I had promised, took a toll on my sleep and health. It was difficult to distinguish between sweat and tears at a point. However I believe, my tendency to plan and chalk out my problems saved me.

I started devoting more time to understanding the problem at hand and planning it out to make the most efficient use of time. There was a lot of hard work involved but I left college with no regrets at all. On one hand, I was selected as the Promotions head of the Psychology fest and on the other, my team and I won a prize at the Young Psychologist Conference for our research. Along with that, I was able to score well in my exams, finish my dissertation and bag admission into Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar in this short period. Looking back, it feels much easier writing about it but the experience taught me some of the greatest skills in life. It continues to shape my approach to projects.
