First and foremost, the small campus at present allows one to be in constant touch with around 400 people, thus networking (an integral part of MBA) is easily achieved. One gets to meet people from different states and cultures, different educational background and work experience. This amalgamation of diversities forms the "IIM Raipur culture".
Hostel – all you will need
Hostels are well equipped with the necessary infrastructure. It has all amenities one will need in the 2-years of MBA life. An exhaustive library, Mess and a 24-hour cafeteria, Gym, Badminton and Basketball court. Doctors and ambulance services are also readily available.
Faculty and Staff – the highest standard
Being in IIM one gets the best teaching, quality of professors is of the highest standard. The curriculum is thoroughly planned and all the necessary books and documents are given. One has the access to top journals and e-journals.
Student Exchange Program – league ahead among new IIMs
To give numbers, out of the 140 students of PGP 2017, 49 students represented IIM Raipur in 19 partner universities from Germany, France, Russia, Greece, Slovakia. This number is only set to increase this year, around 70 people (almost one-third of the batch) in the upcoming year.
Equinox – the Event
The Equinox is the flagship business and cultural event of IIM Raipur. The last Equinox saw the participation of more than 2000 people from across the top B-schools in India. The 3-day Mega Event is one must have experience for all the business enthusiasts.
Clubs and Committees – the experience of a lifetime
With 13 clubs and 9 committees actively operating one gets a chance to have an experience of a lifetime. What makes these clubs and committees unique here is that every one of them is socially conscious and have active rural participation. They devote a considerable time in promoting rural welfare in every way possible.
Which ABG company you would work for and why?
I would like to work with Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company (ABSLI). A few years ago, ABSLI got more than 90% of their revenues through Unit-Linked Insurance Products (ULIPs). Then came the regulatory reforms in ULIPs around 2010-2011, this hit the private sector insurance companies including ABSLI very hard.
ABSLI, however, came with a new distribution model around 2014. They started focusing more on the traditional insurance product and took a more customer-driven approach. All this steered company to a successful recovery process. They now stand at around 95% claim settlement ratio which is higher than the industrial average and 70% of the premium now comes from the traditional insurance products and only 30% comes from ULIPs.
As a finance and operations enthusiast, the way the company was able to make such a transformation in business in such a short span of time makes it an ideal career option for me.
