The reason ABG is big in my life is its exposure across geographies and industries and also it inspires me as an Indian Brand that dreamt big and became a pride of 1.2 billion Indians. ABG has a plethora of brands which connects to the needs of the consumer and continuously reinvents itself to keep pace with the world.
The brands like Ultratech, Philips Carbon etc are major leaders in engineering and core industries which bring manufacturing and product excellence to life at the same time contributing to the development of our societies by elevating our infrastructure and people. Similarly, ABG foraying into newer businesses like Idea, pantaloons, etc have connected with the younger target group and made the ABG brand fit in every young mind.
Aditya Birla Group is an example of inspiration and persistence of generations of hard work, focus and leadership. Even our prime minister Mr Narendra Modi recently quoted one the legends of the ABG leadership Late BK Birla who is the grandfather of Kumar Mangalam Birla, as a legacy and many news articles can be seen where our prime minister has revered the great Birla family and the group.
Aditya Birla’s efforts in the development of the community is worth commendable too. Especially the focus on education and driving the value of education is seen as a great motivator for me to connect with the Aditya Birla brand. It's a presence in motivating students through scholarship, competitions, internships and many other opportunities to students have helped many students like me to grow in their lives and careers. A recent example of BK Birla Scholarship program launched by Aditya Birla in London Business School which is worth 15 million pounds talks a great deal about the group's commitment to education and its contribution to society
I get inspired by ABG's dream big mindset and also its continuous reinvention to reposition itself as a relevant brand by becoming #BetterEveryday #THRIVEwithABG
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
As the saying goes, "the best way to learn to swim is to first jump into the water". I started my journey into the working world on a similar note when I joined my family business of road transportation. But also, to add my words, the best way to learn to swim is to first jump into the water, but with caution. I would consider myself privileged on this front, that I had the opportunity, early on in my life, to understand the business and overcome the problems related to it.
My family owns a mid-size road transportation company based in Mumbai, which provides to the Multinational Company clients with road transport solutions across the country. I was naïve and had almost no idea about the business except for the definition of the business and little idea about the value streams.
When I joined the business, I faced a challenge which traditional road transport companies are facing even now. The intervention of technology and aggregators like 4PL, which is currently disrupting the transport industry. We were losing our business and profits to the new advanced competitors around the country.
I helped my company and thus, myself, to come out of this situation through my strengths of persistence and adaptability and potent of convincingness. I made sure that we ask the right questions to the client to help them focus on our core competencies that are reliability and cost-effectiveness to turn the tables to our favour. I think these qualities have helped me come out of major challenges and thus I value persistence, adaptability, and convincingness as key skills for my growth.
