To have nothing special -TAPMI

They say everyone is special. We all have something we excel at. I say I don't.

I am a 25 year old ordinary girl. I don't have any special talent. I have been average at all activities. May be never failed a test but never topped either. Neither have I been a classical dancer or a playback singer.

And oh how do I look? ordinary. So I don't do acting either.

I have always been with people who knew their strengths. My parents tried their best to find my strength for me. People have been so focused about their life since school days.

For me it was a challenge to not look at the people around and focus on what I have. I have worked in an environment where I was surrounded by only men. Being the only woman working in a production unit every single day spent there was a different challenge. But I loved my work and so I had to stay there to continue doing the work I loved. There were more people who did not want to see me grow or succeed. There were times when I wanted to quit.

But not losing hope, and staying strong, I continued to work there to learn and contribute the best of what I can. I spent a good 18 months on that job inspite of all the negativity.

The next tough part was the decision to leave my job to prepare for MBA. Being unemployed after being employed once is the toughest part. Again I had to depend on parents for my expenses. Seeing all your friends work and you being home trying to prepare is also very depressing sometimes.

But I decided to do that and left my job. It was difficult to focus on preparation with all the Distractions around, but I stayed focused and gave my best to prepare. And I finally cleared the exam and interviews!

And today inspite of being not so special I'm perusing my MBA.
