“A potter hardens the pot by heating it in the flame”, I read this thing proverb in my English literature class in school. This thought got reiterated from home to school when I was a kid. Whenever I complained to my mother about immense amount of home work from the school, she reminded me of that proverb, same thing happened with all the teachers. When I look back now, I miss that time when the heat of the flame was substantially lower than it is when we grew up! But the proverb holds true word by word!
There was a time in my career, I was working in an IT company, Unluckily I was deployed in a sub-standard project where there was very miniscule opportunity to learn and grow in the career. I dived into the salty water with a hope that it’ll end soon, but my turmoil looked like never ending. Then I decided to take reigns myself. First, I discovered if there was any way to get out of this project and find some other interesting opportunities, but bureaucratic organisational structure made that impossible for me. Then one fine day I got to hear the name of an examination called CAT, and it claimed that it can give the access to some amazing B-School around the country and after which I can have a interesting job opportunity. I got interested and enquired about the exam, I got to know that it is in next 3 months. Then I checked out the syllabus, I was intrigued by its vastness. But I was so desperate to create value out of my life by doing something meaningful, I decided to prepare for it. Preparation was tough, as I had to score good marks to get a good college and I have never experienced such course. Also, I had to manage my work with my studies. There were times when I got frustrated but then I got reminded of how a potter makes a pot!
I cracked the exam and scored decent marks and got into one the premier B-Schools in the country!
