I appeared for CAT 2017 when I was in my final year of graduation at IIT. I had prepared diligently for the whole year. I had taken numerous mock tests, analysed them and felt prepared when the D-Day came. When I came out of the test centre, I told my father I would be getting a percentile which will have more than 3 9s in it.

Cut to the day of result, I had 2 9s in my final percentile. I had secured 99.25%ile, it was a great percentile, but for me to get at least one call from the Holy Trinity, I needed more than 99.65%ile. I looked at my score-card and I realised I had done great in QA and DI-LR sections, but had been at 85th percentile in VA-RC section. I just couldn't understand how I didn't perform that well in VA&RC when I had taken so many sectionals and prepared hard for it, considering I wasn't naturally strong in it. I must had adopted a not so right strategy in tackling the most deceptive section of all.
