“Victory never happens in the comfort zone” is the line from Hrithik Roshan’s speech titled Defeat, Defeat. Such quotes are now routine, thanks to the very effective social media. But the concern now is, are these quotes effective?
In my opinion, everyone has a unique method to deal with challenges. Only thing being certain, there is no ESCAPE to challenges. At each stage of life, a person faces new challenges and in a new way – more confident and more accurate. Being a fresher, I would like to share my way of handling challenge I faced in my graduation during engineering. To be very honest, I have not done any supernatural thing. It required only two skills, very basic in nature.
- Time management
- Planning
Obviously, execution and sticking to the plan are 2 primary actions one needs to follow religiously.
Knowing the wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s daughter, Isha Ambani, it is no more a secret how pompous and enthralling are Gujarati weddings. Though we do not have huge wealth, point being, there are lots of traditions and rituals included in Gujarati wedding, which is a 3-4 days extravagant event. It was my sister’s wedding scheduled on 11th May 2018, decided way ahead, 9 months to be precise.
Studying in a state university affiliated college, dates of exam are never certain. They are announced just a month before it must be taken. Unfortunately, it was too late for me to know the schedule of the exam. I had an external exam on 9th and 12th May and that too important subjects.
“Kyun jhume hain gagan, kyun machalta hai mann…” was the apt song in its literal sense of lyrics to describe my situation. In all I was on knees begging god and asking, “Why me?” First thing I did was informing parents about the scenario and my father being a businessman has faced such situations, I decided to take advise. It did not take him more than 10 seconds to answer – Plan and perform with a specific goal in mind. Scratching my head and wondering, Is it that simple? Already short on time, I decided to apply the advice and sat down with pen and paper to figure out the road map for a month I had in hand. Planned meticulously, laying out day-to-day target to achieve to full of my capacity and just meeting those targets with a faith in plan. To be very honest, I enjoyed my dida’s (sister’s) wedding to the fullest and gave my 100% to the exams. I handled every responsibility I was assigned as a brother, son and future brother-in-law. Did everything which came to my mind for wedding to avoid any future regression and gave everything I had for exams for the same reason and left the results on its fate.
Now when I look back, I say to God, “Thank you for choosing me!”. The result I secured was mesmerizing. With 8.97 SPI (Semester Progressive Index) in 6th semester and topped the batch. My dida’s wedding was destined to be a massive hit!
With proper channel of efforts and utilizing time in effective way can led anyone to success and overcome a challenge, no matter how difficult it may be. I believe, planning is the thing everyone does but we all somewhere miss out on an apparent action – Execution. Execution to be efficient needs only one thing and it is Driving Force. I had a driving force – to excel in academics and maintain my result above eight pointers because I was challenged by the situation to take it on me and pour everything of me. Now I realize what my father said was simple to understand but very difficult to do but that also is a challenge.
Hope you had a great challenge ahead, which will polish you to become a better version of yourself.
