PART A: WHAT A FAMILY SIRJI
“98..lala..436..318..lalala”, I was humming the famous advertisement when my Mom suggested me, “Why don’t you memorize Dad’s new Idea Cellular number in the same musical way you are humming the song?” Mom’s advice came right at the moment when I was struggling to mug up 10-digit long mobile numbers. As a good child, I didn’t spare a moment to follow the instruction & mugged up the number by heart. That was the first instance in my life when Aditya Birla Group helped me to overcome the challenges in my life. Following Dad’s phone number, I memorized many phone numbers in this style only.
As I grew up, I got a chance to study at the University, which was away from my home. When I was leaving my home for the very first time, I was so emotional that I couldn’t gulp down food. I was in tears when I left home to catch my train. It took me hours to calm down, and after that, I was feeling starving. I took out Aloo Parathas from my bag, expecting it to be as cold as anything, which I don’t like at all. But I was wrong, to surprise me parathas were fresh & hot wrapped in FreshWrap. At the very moment, I experienced why it is said “Taaza Rakhe Ghar ka Swad”.
Eventually, I started working in an esteemed company. I still remember that day when I was handling some major client issues. It was a tough day for me. Wearing a brand new Peter England shirt was the only good feeling for me that day. The workload was piling up with every passing moment, and so was my willingness to solve all problems. Suddenly, people started congratulating me. I was clueless. I didn’t know what happened. Then I saw my computer screen which was popping up with a message, “Congratulation!! You are promoted!!”. I crashed on my chair. All moments of struggle & hard work were rushing like a bullet train in my mind. I was on top of the world. Despite all the odds, I was able to achieve this only by Self Believe. The thought which came to my mind was “Khud Pe Ho Yakeen toh Banegi Zindagi Haaseenn”.
In the lives of each of us, there are many such instances when Aditya Birla Group has contributed to each one of us to make our life better. Aditya Birla Group has always made the world a better place to live in for people like me, who come from a middle-class background. Being associated as a consumer with the group for so long, it feels like Aditya Birla Group is a family. And like a family member, Aditya Birla Group has never left any stones unturned to work for humanity & society which makes Aditya Birla Group a perfect family.
WHAT A FAMILY, SIRJI..!!
PART B: Journey from Diploma Holder Shop Floor Trainee to IIM Ranchi
“Superb. You nailed it,” said my Manager after the presentation. “Your problem analysis & the out of box solution has made it awesome” my colleagues had the opinion. It was the phase in my life when I was worried about my future career plans. After joining an organization as Diploma Trainee, I always wanted to achieve big in my life. But I come to know that I need a good degree & a quality education to move further. As I had settled all financial crisis at home, it was the correct time for me to plan for higher education.
I started my Degree in Engineering while I was working full time. In the beginning, it was challenging for me to manage the study along with the job. But my motivation to fulfill my dreams pushed me to go an extra mile. Eventually, I succeeded to complete my graduation and became the first Diploma holder in my organization to complete graduation.
But the task was not done for me. By the time I had decided to get into top-notch B School. Without sparing any time I started to prepare for CAT. I couldn’t join any coaching classes as I was working across three shifts. So I made for CAT using YouTube videos. Despite all the hard work, I failed miserably in my first CAT attempt. I was depressed but no demotivated. I worked hard for next time to like anything, and I was sure to crack the exam this time.
Unfortunately, the exam day had a different plan for me. While I was rushing for my seat in the exam hall, I hit my leg on the floor. My toe was paining. I ignored and reached on my chair. I felt some wetness on my toe. I was shocked when I saw my toe. It was bleeding all around as my nail came out from toe. I had two options either go for treatment by skipping an exam or give the exam while my toe was bleeding. I choose the later. It was complicated for me to focus on the exam, but somehow, I managed. After completion of my exam, my leg was cramped. I was unable to walk, but I was happy that I completed my exam.
But the real happiness came months later, after completing all WAT-PI processes, when my cell phone beeped with mail,
“Congratulations! You are selected for IIM Ranchi."
