How Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
Being from a middle-class family, food is the first and the foremost thing that every middle-class family wants to be healthy and special at the same time. Going to a restaurant for dinner to buying fresh vegetables and preparing fresh food are the ways every middle-class family uses to celebrate the small joys of life along with keeping themselves away from diseases.
Similarly, my mother always want to feed me the most nutritious and healthy food wrapped in love, sweetness and the best quality foil paper. During my school days, the lunch box that my mother used to pack contained freshly prepared warm food wrapped in a piece of the Hindalco Freshwrapp aluminium foil neatly. This brings back so many memories from the school days that includes me helping my mother prepare lunch for packing to opening the lunch box in school during recess. The recess time of school was the best half hour that the students used to wait for so as to share the varieties of food of their houses with their friends and sharing talks about their studies and other activities of school. The foil paper was very useful as after eating our lunch, we used to make different shapes from the piece of foil like a duck, a spoon to eat, a ball to play and many more.
Talking about my family, I also remember my home and my room. We recently reconstructed our house and used another brand of Aditya Birla Group, Ultra Tech Cement for stronger and water proof walls. Being at a new place away from home and family, I feel nostalgic remembering the color of the walls and the decorations I used to make my room look more attractive. I also miss the talks and laughs I have shared with my friends and family in that room without any tension of cracks in the wall.
Pantaloons is another brand of the Aditya Birla Group that has a big place in my life not only in the past but also in the present and future as I have been a regular customer of the Pantaloons store near my house. I have been wearing the clothes of Pantaloons from my nascent years when my parents used to shop for me to the present.
The big number of brands of Aditya Birla Group has been impacting our lives for many years now and has helped us all to make memories that a person remembers by just the name of the product used.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
During my graduation at Lakshmibai College, Delhi University from 2015-2018 where I studied the course B.A (Hons.)Economics, I always used to think about the marginalized section of our society who still need help to start working and earn a decent living for their family. I got to know about an organization named ‘Enactus’ that was a prevalent committee of many colleges of Delhi University. This organization helps the groups of students to form a team and create a business model to help the people with limited means learn a skill and learn to create a product or a service and sell it to earn a better living and improve the quality of their lives.
Knowing about this organization gave me hope to actually help people and the students of my college learn about skills and social work. I, along with 5 of my friends started working on this project. We first talked to the North India head of Enactus who guided us about how the organization works and what all information we need to gather before executing the plan. To collect the required information, we spent our personal funds to locate an area with people living in poverty and looking for employment. We talked to them and convinced them that we genuinely wanted to help them. After this research, along with other information about the business ideas, places, etcetera, we invited the Enactus team to our college for an interactive session about how Enactus works globally through student bodies and have changed the lives of many people through many years. All this work took our team approximately 1 year and hard efforts.
We then took our project with all the details to the principal of our college for approval but giving some reasons for that particular year, principal ma’am declined our proposal but the complete procedure helped me grow internally and do something out of my comfort zone to help the society. I might not have succeeded myself but the student batches that followed our batch in Lakshmibai College actually used the information we gave them and successfully founded the Enactus committee of our college. It gave me immense pleasure to see students working together to help the society and groom their own entrepreneurial skills by moving on the path created by our team. I could learn to overcome all the challenges of my life in this one year as I started looking at every task as an opportunity to learn something.
