WINNING OVER LIFE CHALLENGES- PRAGATI, TAPMI

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”- Albert Conius.

The above saying holds great essence in my life. Born in a family of service class people, my father always wanted me to become a doctor. As a dutiful daughter, I opted for science subjects and appeared for the entrance examination but luck didn’t go in my favour. But hey, that was not entirely my mistake! Repeated transfers of my father from one state to another didn’t let me avail a domicile of any state. Oh! Just by the way, a domicile is an important document for seeking admission in the medical colleges of our country. I did all that I could- requested the authorities, pleaded at Jaipur High Court for help but nothing worked in my favour.

Over the course of my under-graduation degree, I developed a knack for management and wanted to sit for CAT. But being the daughter of a typical government servant, it was hard for me to convince my father for letting me set my feet in the private sector. After multiple failed attempts, my father finally let me sit for the exam which I ultimately didn’t do well in. But I deserved another chance right? While my family didn’t agree for a second chance, I hideously gave that chance to myself. But this time, there were a lot of additional burdens on the head-preparing for entrance exams for Masters degree in Biochemistry, preparation for Banking examinations, carrying on with the office work (that only I and my mother knew of) and CAT preparation to name a few.

Due to previous failures, my family had a very dwindling trust on me. Due to this, self-doubt had started kicking in me but I kept working hard and defying all the odds. It demanded immense patience and perseverance to do what I wanted to do especially when all the odds were against me.

I sat for many Masters entrance exams along with Banking and CAT. After such a challenging year with almost everything at stake, can you imagine what the end results were? I managed to clear all the Masters entrances, cleared all banking exams that I sat for barring the interview process of IBPS PO and managed to decently clear CAT as while. But as a child when you win something, you get rewarded for the same. In my case, the reward was the reinforcement of my parents’ trust in my capabilities.

Challenges are just the stepping stones. If there were no challenges, would this life be interesting anyways?
