Part A; From the roads we travel on, to the clothes we wear, to the food we eat, to the cement that builds the foundation of our homes: Aditya Birla Group contributes to our lives in a significant manner on a day to day basis.

Clothing from brands like Peter England and Allen Solly make up a bulk of my wardrobe. These brands have thrived under the guidance and leadership of ABG. Even high end brands such as Van Heusen and Louis Phillipe and Ralph Lauren make for great clothing options for the Indian youth. Another brand that appeals to the youth is clothing stores such as Pantaloons and Forever 21. ABG has a deep understanding of the clothing needs of the young India.

Not only clothing, ABG’s presence can be felt in not only the bakery products we consume, but the aluminum foil and the cling wraps as well. ABG has businesses in the sugar industry also. What a sweet deal!

Now, a conversation about the Aditya Birla Group can not be complete without mentioning their immense role in the cement industry. Be it roads, hospitals, hotels, even our own homes, the contribution of Aditya Birla Group is immeasurable. It is such an integral part of the industrial sector which itself is a major contributor to our GDP.

The products and services offered by Aditya Birla Group mentioned above is just the tip of the iceberg. ABG has a very diversified portfolio and they cater to a large number of people.

Part B:

Organizing a stall during the college’s Diwali fest and having to compete with Enactus to raise money for charity is no easy task. Enactus has the man power, the brand, the resources and people’s trust. I, along with my friends, were doing it for the first time. Our aim was to invest our money and organize a stall to raise money for the charity called Bulland Awaaz, and donate 100% of our profits.

We had planned to have three sections for our stall: Diwali merchandise, games, and food. I was in charge of the food. Since my college is in Delhi, and the youth loves momos, I managed to track down a momo vendor and buy a large amount (800 pc) of momos for a nominal price of Rs. 1 per piece. The selling price was set at 3 per piece. The majority of our revenues were going to come from the food section, we had correctly predicted.

Initially, we were not doing so hot as no one was buying the Diwali merchandise. So we came up with idea that instead of giving away money to the winners of the games, what we could do was that we could give away free merchandise or a plate of food if someone won 3 games out of 5. The price of playing the game was low (Rs. 10) but with people multiple games at a stretch we were able to cover our costs. We managed to make Rs. 4200 from our initial investment of Rs. 2800. Though our profits were good, the smiles on the faces of the children were priceless.
