Aditya Birla Group is truly big in my life.
Since 1857, Aditya Birla Group has been a constant part of people’s lives and has influenced a lot in shaping it. We all know that ABG is an Indian multinational conglomerate of many products like telecom, fashion, cement, carbon black, financial services to name a few. It has never failed to provide worth in everybody’s life and with their tremendous progress, it has created value and added purpose at both the business and customer levels. Post-independence or we can say, with over seven decades of responsible business practices, ABG’s businesses have grown into global powerhouses in a wide range of sectors – metals, textiles, carbon black, telecom and cement and today, over 50% of Group revenues flow from overseas operations that span 34 countries in North and South America, Africa and Asia. So it can be said that ABG has tremendously worked hard and today they have established their position with their hard work only and hence they are commencing towards being in a Fortune 500 company. Their vision of giving back more than what they take shows their accountability and commitment towards society. “Always big in your life”, Aditya Birla group’s products have made a definitive statement by making their presence felt everywhere around us.
If I specifically talk about myself, ABG helps us earn the bread and butter and is a source of income for my family. This good life, education, etc. comes from ABG (directly or indirectly). Elaborating, my father deals in a chemical of aluminium (calcined alumina) which is imported by HINDALCO INDUSTRIES, BELGAUM (one of ABG’s subsidiary) and hence he is a buyer of that chemical form Hindalco.
He has been in this business from the long 30 years and thus I can say that ABG has always been close to not only me but to my family’s heart as well. So, their mission statement and i.e., “To deliver superior value to our customers, shareholders, employees, and society at large.”, stands always true for me and my family.
ABG has impacted our lives in one way or another. When one company provides a need, it makes a big difference in one’s life and hence ABG has gained my faith ever since. Their vision also states the same “To be a premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each of the businesses.” And they have proved their worth to each one of us. Be it teleservices or any fashion brands as well. Talking about the fashion industry, ABG came big in style with Aditya Birla Fashion Retail Limited, which hosts India’s largest fashion network with ~2500 exclusive brands, 4900+ multi-brand outlets and 4000+ department stores across the country. I am a huge fan of LP and have a number of their clothing. Their huge and ample amount of variety and even easily accessible stores have made my decision to choose the ABG fashion group even more correct. They offer something new to the customers frequently either with exciting offers, discounts and global products giving an edge over others. It has become India’s largest fashion and lifestyle company in both men’s and women’s wear.
Hence for me, ABG is close to my heart mainly due to Hindalco industries and well as fashion industries because they are true to their values: Integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness, and speed.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.
There is a famous saying:
“CHALLENGES ARE WHAT MAKE LIFE INTERESTING. OVERCOMING THEM IS WHAT MAKES THEM MEANINGFUL.”
And I guess one cannot deny this fact that challenges are truly something which brings out the best in you, which makes you believe that life does have ups and downs curve, which makes us stronger than before and ultimately makes you a better person.
As stated, challenges are a part of everyone’s life and I too faced them. At various steps in my life, there have been such obstacles that made me feel that my dreams are impossible to achieve. This had both emotional and physical effects on me. Some challenges like:
• Fear of being away from home for the very first time
• The emotional reaction to things
• Low self-esteem
But then I listened to other people’s stories of struggles. I always adore Priyanka Chopra, the way she emerged as an actress that too with difficulties and the credit, as per me, completely goes to her strength, hard work and the way she put efforts to get things done correctly. This made me realize that whatever life throws at us, we must be ready to stand tall and to be strong. In short, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
When I first left my hometown for B.Tech., I was scared whether I would be able to make it through and that fear was completely over me. But then I saw everyone around and thought they were in the same as I. So, I gathered some courage and went ahead in life for something better and became determined to never look back and today here I am at XIMB. When times are hard, we must rise and take control. But my personality truly developed when I was working in an MNC. There I became more confident, more pragmatic and rational and my self-esteem boosted to 100 times as before and the main reason I would say that I stopped overthinking to situations.
The journey was full of adversities and self-doubt but what kept me going was patience and belief that defeat brings out the best in us. I decided not to let all the negativities sink in and let the failure fuel and positively fear you. This perspective towards any kind of challenge helped me and still helps me to cope with all the struggles I faced and can hope for a life with good problems that can help us become a better person. The principles that I believe in are – Discipline, Determination, and Persistence and I will never let go of my principles, no matter how heart-rending the challenges will be, either in the professional or personal space.
