After the roller coaster ride of coaching classes, mock tests, the D-day and the grilling GDPI we get a respite after getting selected in the b-school of your dream. My story was no different

After getting selected in many prestigious b-schools in India the ball was in my court to decide which college I wanted to take admission in. Like every other lost soul in the sea of information around us. I started googling about different colleges, started talking to the alumni of the colleges to get that one reason why I should “ the one” among the rest. And after doing all the research work I made up my mind of joining one of the best B school of India “ XAVIER INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT “ . for selecting this premium B school I got a lot of reasons. XIMB has a legacy of 31 years which amounts to the huge number of alumni i.e more than 7000 working in the industry at different positions starting from the management trainee to the CXO. The sectors range widely from FMCG to manufacturing and what not.

XIMB is different from other b-schools in terms of the academics as we are asked to  think beyond the books, have out of the box ideas but they also stress the fact that no matter how out of the box the ideas are but it should be backed by the principles so that your ideas are well accepted in the industry. Here in XIMB, we have the privilege of being taught by professors who have pretty high experience in the industry as well as professors who are young so that if we come up with a solution we have someone who can relate to it.

All study and no play makes Jack a dull boy is indeed true in b school because MBA is more about thinking, innovating and communicating your thoughts clearly to your peers or seniors. MBA also teaches you how to manage your time between the classes and extracurriculars. In XIMB we have 24 committees to help you do the activities you are interested in apart from regular studies and give you the platform to perform.

If I am talking about XIMB, how can I not mention about its rich and diversified culture? Here we have students from all parts of the country and all are made feel at home by giving equal importance to their cultures. While talking about the cultural events of XIMB the first thing that comes into the mind of anyone is “EXPRESSIONS” the biggest cultural fest of eastern India.  Apart from expressions, we have other cultural events such as X-CAPADE  going on throughout the year. XIMB truly believes in study hard and Party HARDER.

MBA doesn’t only shape your profile academically but it is actually the overall transformation it brings into a person and XIMB provides you with innumerable opportunities to grow and shape yourself.

Which ABG company I would like to work for and why

The division of ABG which I want to be a part of is the Aditya Birla Retail Limited (ABRL).  ABRL is the retail arm of ABG company and it is the third largest retailer in India.  After gaining the major market share in fashion it has ventured into food and grocery retail sector in 2007 in two formats – supermarkets and hypermarkets. The reason I want to be a part of ABRL is that it covers a wide variety of products ranging from fashion, FMCG to regular groceries. It will help me to work in various segments of the market under the same roof. I will be able to study the consumer behaviour of all age groups. I will also get a chance to study the growth of the unique style of hypermarkets in India
