It’s about the time when you’ll be face to face with the CAT. About the time when your knowledge, as well as the time management skills, would be screened through the lens of a three hours long entrance exam. With the clock ticking at one corner of the screen, it is predominantly a test against time where you got to prove your mettle against the clock. The time constraint attribute inherent in CAT makes the students prone to stress and panic which can ultimately result in their hard work going down the drain. Considering the situation, we’ve listed some of the common errors one should avoid during the exam.
Carry all the documents
Assemble your documents a day before the test to avoid chaos the next morning. There are mainly two essential documents you’ll require namely, admit card and your ID proof. Remember to check it once before you leave for the exam center.
Reporting Time
Adhere to the reporting time as mentioned in your admit card it's better if you reach the center early. It is advisable to check the location of the examination center before the actual test such that you don’t face any trouble finding the place on that day.
Mismanagement of Time
Time is of the essence. Don’t get stuck in a particular question for long. Allot a fixed amount of time to each question and move on if it exceeds the limit. Remember you also have a sectional time limit along with sectional cut-offs, so in your excitement to solve all the questions you might miss the questions worth solving.
Use of screen calculator
That calculator on the side looks friendly but know it’s a trap. Instead of saving time, it is more likely to consume time, so it’s better to avoid using it unless you are well versed with it; otherwise, it is suggested to go with manual calculation.
Don’t be nervous
It’s common to get nervous during the test, which makes it all the more essential to maintain your calm and composure. You might make silly mistakes which you will regret later because of nervousness.
Never give up or lose hope
Don’t lose hope if your one section didn’t go well chances are that it didn’t go well for the other applicants too. Focus on the next part with an open mind and patience, each section has its difficulty level, and as you know CAT is a game of percentile, your performance largely depends on the performance of other applicants also. So have a never give up attitude and bell the CAT.
