“To be or not to be isn’t a matter of chance but a matter of choice”
In a country with such a huge diversified population, the disparity in socio-economic has always been prevalent. The inclusion factor is what a growing nation demands from its institutions. This very objective thought led me to realize the sheer importance of the outstanding conglomerate – Aditya Birla Group.
For more than 150 years, the group has been fulfilling what we call in management - “Secret Appreciation Need” for people from different ages & different socio-economic backgrounds. Be it the elegant “Grasim Suiting” that goes with every setting or be it the “Life Insurance policy” that ensures secure living for your family or be it the durable “Ultratech Cement” that transform a barren land into a home, the group has left no stones unturned in making India - a better place with a better pace! The succinct marketing that the group indulges in is a perfect example of on-point customer engagement. And why I say the group welcomes inclusivity is because every effort, towards innovation in its product line, ends up building a stronger community of buyers irrespective of where he/she is from. Catering to such a diversified audience, the group has marked itself as a brilliant brand. Even outside India, the group has marked a presence which is unmatched & this indeed reminds us of the immense potential an Indian company can go about. Coincidently, one of the memorable instances I can think of is when I was going for my coaching class near my college. Nearby what I saw just blew my mind. In one of Vodafone promotion tents, a transgender was entertaining the passers-by with his singing skills to give him a chance to sell those sim cards at the tent. That moment, a very inspirational thought struck me.
After communicating with Raveena (a trans-man) & knowing her struggles to make dignified money, I somehow decided that I must meet rest of the community members at her NGO and indeed help them at best of my capacity. Being born in a business family, I have always felt an inclination towards entrepreneurial projects. Thus the meetings & community engagements started to happen. There was an internal feeling to forgo this opportunity, an opportunity to help some needy beings, because of the universal bias of insecurity that people have about the LGBTQ community. It was the most difficult decision for me as my friends & family members were apprehensive about my own safety. But it’s aptly said, “When there’s a will, there’s a way.” Against all the odds, I took up the task of setting up a beauty salon in the NGO premise. After 3 months of immense interactions, brainstorming about the business investments & operations and well-grounded research, a beauty salon, run by the transgender community, was eventually inaugurated in Saket, Delhi. A top of the world happiness was experienced. Born with a silver spoon, I never thought of real struggles that the third gender experience. It was an extraordinary journey wherein I helped to transform the lives of 5 transgender community by a mere idea which struck at watching a hero selling Vodafone Sims. My perspective towards dealing with people changed drastically. We often tend to look at the miseries and forget all the best things that happen with us. Thank you Aditya Birla Group for making that extraordinary effort of employing a third gender with full integrity. Thank you for helping me bring a real-time impact on society.
Dear ABG, I adore you, I idealize you, I see you doing!
