A fourth-generation business conglomerate in India, the 158-year-old Aditya Birla Group (founded 1857), has ventured into online fashion retail through a platform called abof, targeting the country’s millennial spenders through curated fashion. The timing is significant as India’s booming online retail industry is witnessing pitched battles, especially in the electronics and fashion categories. Of the two, fashion is particularly attractive as it is a high margin segment - it does not easily lend itself to the comparison shopping that savvy Indian online buyers are wont to do.

One such business house is the “Aditya Birla group”; Their presence is evident in the daily life of a large segment of the Indian populace. Their role in the ever-changing scenery of Indian cities is not prominent but ever-present through Ultra tech cement. As the populace become more connected the role of mobile phones take center stage but in the absence of telecom connectivity provided by players like Vodafone-Idea are only dead weights towards economic progress.  They have played a key role in expanding consumer choice by bringing foreign brands like Allen Solly and Peter England to the masses. Clothing brands I rely on for my daily wear. There is a huge chance that the Pepsi can I buy from the college canteen was processed by Hindalco plant or would soon be recycled by them.

In short, the Aditya Birla group has taken India on its shoulders and helped it reach new heights. Its success in the black carbon is not only a positive for the firm but the Indian masses.

How I overcame the challenges so far

I recognize and accept my weakness. I learned that two people I trusted were actively working to undermine me. I felt hurt and betrayed, and while I discussed the matter with them privately, I followed my longstanding and conflict avoiding practice of keeping the dispute under wraps by taking guidance from trustworthy people. Set goals to create an action plan for improving weaknesses. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely (S.M.A.R.T). A broad goal like “improve working relationships” is difficult to measure. Instead, break it down into manageable goals, such as scheduling a meeting next week with a colleague to discuss ways of improving communication between your departments. Assign a deadline to each goal. Review your goals to ensure they are attainable. Your list of goals acts as a strategic plan for improving weaknesses. It will also help you prioritize tasks and save time. So, I have been working diligently by setting my goals to overcome my weaknesses. As you turn your weaknesses into strengths, be sure to reward yourself. Improving weaknesses shows that you are self-directed, action-oriented and ready to take the next step in your personal and professional journey. If you improve a weakness, treat yourself to something special, like lunch at a fun deli. Invite your mentor to join you. Be sure to acknowledge and celebrate every weakness that you can improve. I have been continuously motivate my self by encouraging my work and my little overcome. Professional development is a key action you can take to improve weaknesses. As you review your goals, identify areas for improvement that require new knowledge and training.
