Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life ?

My first interaction with the Aditya Birla Group was the Freshwrapp foil used to pack my lunch when I was in school and college. When I wanted to switch to a better network service provider I bought an Idea sim. When I started working, my parents gifted me an Allen Solly shirt. Finally when I wanted to invest responsibly after I started working, I invested in Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Funds. My interaction with Aditya Birla has been at different stages of my life and these interactions have influenced my life and made me a better person.

The freshwrapp foil used to pack my lunch helped me to understand how a product as simple as foil can maintain the quality of the food and make a meal enjoyable. It is the smallest things in life which create the largest impact!

Using a mobile phone on a student’s budget meant maintaining an optimal balance till the end of the month and later the decision whether to recharge for talk time or buy mobile data. This taught me the importance of effectively utilizing the resources made available to me.

A year after I began working, I was advised by family and friends to invest my money. Everyone seemed to have creative ideas how this should be done. I few friends recommended I review Aditya Birla Sun life. I did my research and decided invest money in the fund. The fund performed well I received a significantly higher return. This helped me gain confidence in my decision making abilities and made me more financially aware and responsible.

Finally the Allen Solly shirt which was gifted to me proved that my success is enjoyed by all those who helped me achieve it and this is what makes the journey a wonderful experience.

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far

As a student I was in awe of leaders who inspired and motivated their teams to achieve challenging goals. I too aspired to lead a team which would exceed expectations. One quality of an effective leader is his ability to create an environment where members could honestly give feedback about their team’s performance with specific focus on areas of improvement. Personally I prefer to avoid confrontation and this was a barrier to achieving success in teams which I had worked with in school.

I was the team leader for my BE project. When the team could not meet the initial project targets, I realised that we needed to work more cohesively. This meant that members needed to  communicate with each other and provide constructive feedback. I decided that I would take the lead and provide honest feedback about each member’s performance. I described the areas where each member performed well and where they needed to improve. This set up an environment for honest feedback. Although the initial reaction of some members was negative, they worked on their feedback and improved their performance. My team also identified areas where I can improve. Working on this feedback, made me a better leader, capable of understanding the needs of my team. We worked as a team and not just a group, to complete the project.  As a team we could share many creative ideas which reduced the overall project costs and time.

Being a good leader requires continuous improvement in the manner in which you relate with your team members and provide support to each member. But more importantly it involves being receptive to feedback even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
