2. Previous year questions:
Next, I focused on practicing past question papers (PYQs). I took all available DILR questions and spent another two weeks solving them, using a timer to track my progress. My primary goal was to learn different approaches for various sets; some would take me over 1.5 hours for a single set, while others could be completed in under 10 minutes. This practice gave me an idea about how IIMs structure their question papers.
3. Free YouTube resources:
Aptitude Jab, Elites Grid, and Cracku’s free DILR YouTube videos helped me to figure out new methods to approach. These resources provided exposure to unique questions from diverse topics.

4. Games:
Not only did solving these many questions help me in DILR, but games like Chess, Sudoku, Tangly, and the Queens game helped me a lot.
5. Sectionals and mocks:
With all the above, I figured out tricks and methods to solve DILR, and in the last 2 months, I bought sectionals from Cracku and IMS. Took 3 sectionals every week in DILR and analyzed it about where I went wrong and how I can approach a set differently. By the end of October, no matter which sectionals I take, I could solve (1.5-2) sets out of 4 sets, which could easily fetch me 99+ile and I was quite confident about my DILR section.
My DILR strategy and CAT 2024:
For the past 3 years, we have been getting 4 sets in DILR, out of which 27+ marks will fetch you more than 99+ile. My strategy is to go through all the sets in the first 2 minutes. And attack the easiest set of all (I find Games & tournaments, Tables with missing values, selection with condition topics were easy), then I will try to solve the first set in 15 min. Which will make sure my cutoff is cleared, and in the next 20 minutes, I will try to solve the next one. And in the last 2-3 min, I will try to make educational guesses for TITA questions ( Remember, luck favors the brave).
But CAT 2024 was different. I was in slot 2, right after slot 1, we got to know about the change in pattern of DILR ( 5 sets), I immediately changed my strategy from solving 2 to 3.5 sets, and it worked. In the first 3 min. I went through all the sets and decided to go, eventually I solved 3.5 sets scoring 40 in the DILR section, which fetched me 99.30ile in DILR. Don't be rigid with your strategy; be flexible because CAT is all about facing uncertainty.
To summarize, success in the DILR section relies heavily on daily consistency, effective practice, and strategic planning. With dedication and the right approach, you can ace it.
Best of luck to everyone!
