The dramatic shift in the budget towards a rural focus was predicted by most analysts given the failure of monsoons two years in a row and the defeats in Bihar Assembly and Gujarat local elections. The current agitations for reservations in Gujarat, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh were also used to buttress the logic behind the rural shift.
The funny thing about rumours is that there are 2 kinds, as we all know from our personal experiences. When a rumour starts you don't know if it is true or false. Either way it tends to grow virally almost in geometric progression. And all the time the public waits for a confirmation on the truth or falsity of the rumour and anxiously at that.
Innovation – the most overused (and dare I say abused) word in the corporate world today. Ask managers what the organization needs most and they will say ‘innovation and creativity’. And they are right! But when it’s time to walk the talk... well, you know what follows as well as me.
The biggest negative for India’s state-owned banks in the Union budget is finance minister Arun Jaitley’s announcement that the government will infuse (only) Rs.25,000 crore in fresh capital in these banks—many of which are crumbling under the burden of bad loans.
