25th March 2018 was a special day for IIM Rohtak. Hon’ble Vice President of India inaugurated the new campus of IIM Rohtak spread across 200 acres. Phase I of the campus is completed with the state-of-the-art academic block, administrative block, 13 student hostels with all modern amenities, seminar hall, shopping complex and residential accommodation for faculty and staff.  The feeling of having own campus cannot be expressed in words. Being in the second year, I had the privilege to study in both campuses. Each had its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The new campus in located in Sunaria near Rohtak.

I still vividly remember that day, about a year ago, I alighted from Rajdhani Express and took a cab from New Delhi directly to IIM Rohtak. Much to my surprise, I landed up in 200 acres of barren land under construction. Before my mind could have taken a ride of weird thoughts, I realized that mistakenly I have landed up in the to-be new campus of IIM Rohtak. Just a year later, I am sitting in my cosy and comfortable hostel and writing this article. I am startled at the pace at which this piece of land has been transformed from a site under construction to a hub incubating future leaders.

Running to the auditorium after an entire day of classes, with a stream of pleas to the forces out there for this one last task (as per the rumours floating around) to go really, really well, I never would have imagined what a day it will turn out to be.  While the previous 21 rounds were judged by our (then) hated seniors, this last one, involving just the top performing candidates, was to be judged by our faculty. We were going through last minute glances at the submitted PowerPoint Presentation, desperate attempts to appear as put-together as possible, and mental preparations for all possible questions that can be shot at us - the usual routine for every waking hour (which was essentially the entire day) for the past entire week.

It was the first semester of our PGPM program at IIM Rohtak. With a heavy dose of induction, we were ready to ace our academics. The first semester was quite hectic. Classes started at as early as 8:45 AM and goes on till 5 PM. Post classes we had to prepare for next day’s lectures. We barely had time to work, discuss among our team and prepare well for the lectures. Although everyone was trying their best to participate in lecture, it was really difficult to prepare well for every subject. For the lectures in which we were not prepared, we just tried ourselves not to throw out of the classroom.
