The Rigour Of IIM Rohtak - A Learning Experience
Zero sleep, empty stomach and half read articles, that’s how I entered my first class in IIM Rohtak. The grooming programme was going on and I barely got three hours sleep every day, on top of that classes were starting and our first session was Marketing Management I. I had three pre-reads totalling to about 60 pages for that session. I was not able to finish it in my brief sleeping period of three hours.

The Upbeat Campus Of IIM Rohtak
The mood here at the IIM-Rohtak campus is unusually upbeat these days. Normally one would assume, given that this is our second year and we would soon be going for our placements, still the mood here in our new campus is cheerful. For years our campus has been in the making, but now, finally, the day is here when we are finally in our campus. The campus is huge and gives the feel and vibe of an IIM. Normally people judge a college by its infrastructure, faculties and its placement figures but rarely ask for its culture. I would rather say that college cannot be declared well until or unless it has a good culture. And this is what IIM Rohtak is rich at.

Sir, I have a doubt”, the voice echoes across the room and the whole class shares a notorious smile. This is one of my batchmates, a classmate for the first year. A peculiar man, beyond the understanding of others, though an active participant in all the lectures, he is one of a kind, let’s call him Kumar. I was introduced to Kumar during the induction program of IIM Rohtak, a task with random allotments results in a mandatory engagement with the strangers.

IIM Rohtak, a brand that will accompany me even when my shadow would leave me is the oldest of the new IIMs and was established in 2009 but started its academic from June 2010. Today, after 9 years of its inception it stands tall in giving excellent brains to the corporate world across all the domains, be it Marketing or Finance or Operations or HR. It is the first IIM in north India and the only IIM in National Capital Region.
