‘You break me down, you build me up, Believer’ - This is what every student has to say after the induction at Bajaj. Our sleep schedule is totally changed by the end of induction. Sleep has become a luxury by now and uncertainty part of daily life. The teaching faculties are the best the industry has to offer. JBIMS provides an opportunity to learn Marketing from the ‘Brand Guru’ and Operations from the ‘God of Operations’ himself. With visiting faculties scheduling lectures on weekends, weekly off concept doesn’t exist here. During lectures, it becomes a task to catch up noting down all the free flowing insights these veterans have collected through their experience in the industry.
I am a second-year student from JBIMS, Mumbai. There are some great business institutes in India, but I can proudly say none of them offer what JBIMS offers and none can shape a person the way this institute does. The features that I want to focus are: “LOCATION” – situated in the financial hub of India surrounded by the live market. The secondary research may be overtaking primary research to some extent but the true business can be led by only primary research. Our curriculum demands us to continuously carry out primary research in almost all sectors to have a thorough knowledge of the core business strategies that may have been implemented or need to be implemented. “DAY-SCHOLAR” – this has helped me create a perfect balance in my life. As an MBA student, we are expected to put in late hours and JBIMS is the only institute that doesn’t just teach you to stretch yourself but teaches you to go beyond the limits while maintaining a healthy personal and family life. We are workaholic putting in 24*7 for our work but still, this institute has taught us the magic to discover the 25th hour and 8th day of the week to dedicate to our family. “FACULTIES” – more than just faculties they are considered as gods of their fields. Let it be finance, marketing, or operations this temple have gods from all fields. Serving on the boards of some of the leading global firms, it is an honor to get a chance to attend their lectures. Won’t be naming anyone but the institute is still the CEO factory of India, the same CEOs who have learnt from these same gods. It has been over 40 years some of them have been teaching at JBIMS and the legacy and flow of knowledge still continue.
It was the last lecture of the day, and I was blank. All I could hear were buzzes around. Professor was saying something. Students were making their observations from the case and about the discussion that was going on, but I was blank. You remember that childhood memory where the teacher would ask you to down your head, and you would go into slumber, you could hear everything around but just the feel of it. I experienced the same thing, but in a B-school in the middle of a case discussion and with my head up.
There are certain things which makes Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies(JBIMS) a unique college among other top B-School -these are Faculty, Alumni, Campus Location, Senior Guidance and support.
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), one of the popularly known b-schools in India with a batch of total 140 students for MMS course (2017 -2019). I also applied to JBIMS like every other student with a dream to do MBA in a top institute. It all started with my first hurdle of when I got shortlisted for this college but having to serve notice period for the previous company I ended up joining little late and from there with all the chaos of doing previous assignments, getting to know the curriculum, placement registration, applying for committees my friends helped me to get everything settled. A bunch of 140 students who know each other extremely well is our strength it teaches us how much networking is important for our careers. Here we are taught collaboration. Every step in JBIMS is learning. According to me the uniqueness of JBIMS is its visiting faculty who brings industrial knowledge apart from classroom learning. Due to visiting faculty visits we also have a very dynamic schedule which made us learn how to manage time efficiently. I think this is one of the basic skills which every leader has to learn i.e. every leader has to deal with uncertainties and this is one of the very basic things we do daily. JBIMS teaches us a lot of other things apart from a dedicated curriculum of MMS, it teaches us a value of time and other skills which is important for us to become a leader.
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (‘JBIMS’) often referred to as ‘CEO factory of India’ says a tremendous lot about the kind of knowledge, rigor, discipline, and modesty the institute packs in a student to tackle the real-world business problems and excel at it while solving them. The flagship management program at JBIMS provides the students with a good perspective on the domain-specific concepts and their applications. The collaborative learning environment enhances the people skills and group dynamics which is critical while working in teams. The frequent chances to conduct presentations instils and fortifies the public speaking skills of the students.
On the evening of 23rd July 2017, that is when I joined JBIMS. And all I could see is a 5 storey red building with a lack luster infrastructure. But little did I know that I would soon be falling in love with this red building. A few days later I was discussing with my senior as to how would I manage to learn and groom myself in this environment with very limited resources and infrastructure. He simply smiled at me carefree stating the fact that this was not the first time he was listening to these remarks and I knew he is ready to change my perception.
