Almost a month ago I made the best decision of my life. A decision that has challenged me and enabled me to get a better version of myself and transform me into a stronger and a more confident individual. I decided to pursue my Masters in Business Administration at the IIM Raipur. I was astounded by the speed at which the entire class caught up on the basics of management and the quality of teaching for the core modules. It seems impossible that I have experienced so much and made so many friendships so quickly, but it’s true. This is a common phenomenon in IIM Raipur, as anyone who has spent time here can attest.

I came to XIMB with a general perception, like that of any other college, of staff and other faculties managing the college and they being first point of contact. BUT NO!! I was totally wrong. XIMB is entirely student-driven, from college committees, placements, etc. to pulling off the annual fest ‘Xpressions’, everything is totally handled by students groups. From 1st day itself, we were assigned to contact our roll seniors, getting to know them, thus breaking the ice between seniors and juniors. After that we had several batch meets addressed by student-driven committees, making every student rush and reach on or before assigned time and with the attire. The first lesson learnt in college from seniors “Punctuality”, which I knew was going to help me in the upcoming corporate life.

My college Shailesh J Mehta School of Management is part of IIT Bombay campus. IIT Bombay has a beautiful 550 acre campus- lush green with rich flora and fauna right in the middle of crowded streets of Mumbai! The campus offers world- class facilities and stores inside the campus ensure you literally get everything you need. The campus is dotted with several eateries- most of them open till late in the night. You can find hundreds of students cycling around the campus instead of motorbikes/cars- thus ensuring the campus stays green. Only work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We can find several sports facilities in the campus starting from badminton, squash, table tennis, lawn tennis courts, cricket and football grounds, swimming pools etc. which the students make the most of to enhance their physical fitness.

Some of the most beautiful sights on my campus are the sunrise by Sameer hill and sunset beside Powai lake. The campus is rich not only in its diverse flora and fauna, but also with its vast pool of students (over 10,000 of them!) with diverse interests and passions. And the campus offers opportunities to all of them to hone their skills- world-class sports infrastructure for games such as football, lawn tennis, basketball court, badminton court, TT court, gym, cricket ground, running track, swimming pool and what not. The same goes for cultural activities. The library contains hundreds of thousands of books on literally any topic you can imagine. The lecture halls, seminar halls, and classrooms, are well equipped with all the required facilities. Students also gain international exposure via student exchange programs. The international exposure via study tours and student exchange programs. The competitive environment of IIT and resourceful faculties to support us in every area and at every step. This is what makes our campus unique.

The IIT Bombay campus is one of the most coveted and desirable places to pursue higher studies in India, since it is a mecca of learning and has some of the best facilities one could ever imagine. As someone who studies here, you get a chance to share the campus with some of the brightest minds in the country and interact with teachers, who are extremely passionate about their subjects. IIT Bombay is one of the most research-oriented campuses in the country and everywhere you go, you can see an attempt to introduce innovation and entrepreneurship. IIT Bombay is a place where a lot of startups have begun, and the excellent SINE centre is responsible for seeding and nurturing a lot of nascent companies which will probably become famous in the years to come.
