This last month has been a great start at IIM Raipur, and I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to attend this institution. Since the last 20 days, my time spent here has made to stuck for few things that makes this institution unique –
The director’s address to our batch at the beginning of our induction, where he gave us an idea of what our lives here would be like was one of my most cherished campus memories. Dr Himadri Das did not sugarcoat it when he said that life here would be easy. Rather, he told us the reality of how the classes will be tough, the seniors will give even tougher task and it is up to us to not just manage it but do it well. Next was an address by the chairperson of placements Mr Kanwal Kapil, where one of the lines that he said stuck with me. He told us that placement here at MDI, is not a right. It is the consequence of the process that makes a student through so much rigor, hard work that the student can now be ready to take on anything that life throws at him or her. That was the start of my journey at MDI, where I was inspired, motivated to be among the best Management students from across the country. There has been no day since then where I have gotten a good night’s sleep since then, and every morning while entering classes I have felt sleepy. Yet, in every class, I have tried to gain as much knowledge as I possibly can, participate as much as I can, and learn from my peers as well. Those words stuck with me and I have been pushing my limits, doing things that I previously wouldn’t have felt capable of. That was some session that I will never forget and I hope to carry those learnings for the rest of my life.
A good college not only paves the way for a great career ahead but also helps shape a person’s character. And when it comes to choosing a B school, its a whole different level. In the age of Analytics and Big Data, while it should have been easier to narrow down the final choice, it is actually opposite now! The task of choosing a B school has become even more difficult today because there is no standard parameter or universally acceptable criteria. So what made me select Indian Institute of Management - Raipur over the B schools that I had the option to get in?

Almost a month ago I made the best decision of my life. A decision that has challenged me and enabled me to get a better version of myself and transform me into a stronger and a more confident individual. I decided to pursue my Masters in Business Administration at the IIM Raipur. I was astounded by the speed at which the entire class caught up on the basics of management and the quality of teaching for the core modules. It seems impossible that I have experienced so much and made so many friendships so quickly, but it’s true. This is a common phenomenon in IIM Raipur, as anyone who has spent time here can attest.
From being welcomed to Real M.B.A. to making us experience the roller coaster ride
I came to XIMB with a general perception, like that of any other college, of staff and other faculties managing the college and they being first point of contact. BUT NO!! I was totally wrong. XIMB is entirely student-driven, from college committees, placements, etc. to pulling off the annual fest ‘Xpressions’, everything is totally handled by students groups. From 1st day itself, we were assigned to contact our roll seniors, getting to know them, thus breaking the ice between seniors and juniors. After that we had several batch meets addressed by student-driven committees, making every student rush and reach on or before assigned time and with the attire. The first lesson learnt in college from seniors “Punctuality”, which I knew was going to help me in the upcoming corporate life.
