MDI Gurgaon – A Walk Through The Red Brick Walls

Management Development Institute is one of the best colleges in the country. I feel honoured to be a part of MDI fraternity. Since the college has started, I have enjoyed every single minute of it. It’s really great to live with friends and share every moment with them. I am thrilled to be back in the classroom after 3 years of work experience. The very environment of the college is exciting.  A lot of activities happening at the same time with strict deadlines gives me adrenaline rush. In just one month, I have learnt to juggle multiple things at the same time. It is a lot of fun as you get to spend time with your peers and have a fantastic learning. People on campus are from various backgrounds and cultures and I feel it is a golden opportunity to learn and interact with them. Along with it, I get to hear real life experiences from several industry leaders which are a completely new experience. Even in the classrooms, the focus is on learning through application of concepts in real life scenarios. This gives a deep understanding of the problem a manager faces every day and how to deal with them. Innovative ideas are appreciated and discussed that keep the classroom fun. MDI is strategically located which gives an advantage of being in close proximity to the corporates. The campus is beautiful and the buildings are meticulously designed so as to have a great sense of pleasure. At the same time, it’s not always about work and studies. There are a lot of student-run clubs and committees that empowers us to take the leadership role, apply our knowledge and execute various initiatives. A lot of cultural and sports activities take place at the college that keeps the place lively.

Prabandhan Sansthan Se Karodpati Banne Tak! - MDI

My life in MDI so far has been a roller coaster ride. A lot of false expectations have been corrected initially and lots of new thought processes and perspectives have been introduced at the same. I realized each and every day that works in a social setting can never be done alone, not because I am not capable enough, but because businesses require that many perspectives and inputs to be implemented successfully. From case study discussions in marketing planning class to public speaking extempore sessions in managerial communication class, everything has been an enriching experience so far and I have a long way to go. Apart from the academic rigor, managing time is something I am learning and failing each day to and trying the subsequent day again only to succeed. I have met a lot of amazing people with different cultural and educational background and I believe it will only help me in gaining one of a lifetime experience. In the end, I will only say that I may leave MDI after 2 years, but MDI will never leave me.

1 Month At MDI – A Roller Coaster Ride

I joined MDI on 13th June, 18 and one month has passed very quickly. It has truly been a roller coaster ride till now but I can say that it has all been a great learning experience. I have learnt a lot of things in this one month and have made a lot of memories which I will cherish forever. Starting from the first 2 weeks of induction, we were exposed to many corporate sessions where people from diverse fields in corporate sector at different roles guided us on how to best make use of these 2 years, they also shared their experience. Some of them were MDI alums, so they told us about their stay at campus long back and how life has changed thereafter. From all the corporate sessions one advice was common– to make the best use of these 2 years, make connections and not only study but also make memories that we will cherish lifelong because for most of us this will be the last degree of our life so make the best use of this experience.

My Life, My Choice, My MDI

I joined MDI on the 14th of June and standing in the registration line I remember feeling slightly giddy with joy and thinking to myself “I am in MDI”. Seeing the green and red campus and the people around me, hearing the conversations, I remember feeling surrounded by a veil of achievement. That lifted when the director gave his welcome speech. Something he had said stuck in the mind, something I would never forget. He’d said that “I know all of you are feeling elated and accomplished at having coming to MDI but always keep in mind, earning an opportunity is not something worth celebrating, it’s making good on this opportunity that warrants celebration, so let us strive to achieve excellence”. Two weeks in, it felt like a year had passed. The hectic induction week, assignments, tasks and deadlines had left me sleep deprived and tired but somehow content. This was a welcome change to the sedentary lifestyle I had been leading for the past year. Soon classes started, new assignments were there, a karaoke was organized and the sports week was upon us. It had been a month since I had joined this campus and it felt like only a week had passed.
