It was on 18th June’18 when I reached XIMB; one of the coveted B-Schools, ready to embark on a new journey of passion and excitement. After spending more than a couple of weeks I am well versed about the place and would like to throw light on some areas on how this campus is unique and enthralling.
It was 4.00 am in Pattaya, I checked-out from my hotel room and was waiting in hotel reception area for my family to arrive. Tired because I was made to wake up early, I started scrolling my e-mails being almost sure that I would find nothing interesting as always, but god had other plans for me this time. My eyes stumbled upon one particular message from IIM Visakhapatnam Administration. My heart started racing like a Ferrari and my mind started thinking of all the things that could happen to me after reading this mail. Slowly, my hands wet from the profuse sweating clicked on the thread. And voila… It was Congratulatory message for being selected in the one of the prestigious Institute in India for two-year MBA program. I was so happy that for next 10 minute or so, I did not realize where I was or what was I doing there.
I first heard about SDA Bocconi Asia Center on Facebook when I came across an interesting video on why women should take up an MBA. At this point, I had been contemplating pursuing MBA for a quite some time, and this video turned out to be the little nudge that helped me decide what I should do. One year later, here I am, halfway through my course.
The Finance Club of SDA Bocconi Asia Center started in 2012 with an aim to provide an experience that closely mirrors the finance industry. Over the years, the club has supported and empowered its members to pursue top careers in major segments of the finance industry.
3 years ago, when the startup culture gained popularity in India, I was among those people who were extremely moved by it and built a passion for “Entrepreneurship”, the word which was not even properly pronounced by many.
A lot of us who join a B-School either have a goal of doing an MBA to improve the knowledge and skill set or are told to do it to grow in life, courtesy parents and peer pressure. I feel that narrowing down to SDA Bocconi was one of the most spontaneous yet wisest decisions of my life. Cut to the first day of this prestigious institution, I entered the premises with a lot of anticipation and enthusiasm as I was going to meet an ocean of people dressed to impress in their suits. I was greeted by smiling faces of the management and was directed to the hall for our welcome. Inside the hall, I could feel the exuberance beaming from all directions as everyone in there was looking up with a smile as and when someone entered through the door.
My name is Lakshmi Sravya. I am a fresher looking forward to shape my future in one of the prestigious B-schools. In this process I got a call for interview from IIM Visakhapatnam and that was my first IIM interview call. Before that I converted the calls from other 2 private b schools and an IIM call excited me. I performed decently well in the interview and got converted. Though I was very happy I was confused whether to join a new IIM or to give an another try. First I thought of knowing completely about IIM Visakhapatnam.
Sometimes in your life you found yourself well settled, well paid, living near your hometown You found yourself surrounded by a word “comfort” but even having all of this you cannot stop your mind about not thinking more in life. I found that I have earned sufficient experience but know very little about how the whole business is run.
