Ever dreamt of a job that takes you places? Metaphorically, and well, literally?
Third of March, 2018, was one of the most memorable days in my recent past. It was the day the second edition of TEDxBocconiUMumbai was conducted, a culmination of 6 months of planning and organizing, arguing and fighting, brainstorming and researching, and so much more. For those of you who are not as well versed with the world of TED and TEDx, TEDxBocconiUMumbai is an independently organized event by the students of SDA Bocconi Asia Center. We bring together inspiring individuals and provide them with a platform to share their unique and powerful ideas and stories with not just a room full of hundred people, but the entire world, through the power of the internet. You can find all 12 stories at this link.
I have chosen IIM V over other well established B Schools of our country. It has been a tough decision as it included letting go a chance to study together with one of my best friends (which we deeply wished for while trying to bell the CAT.) This tough decision has been backed with some solid reasoning which I wish to share with you all …..
An account of the daily routine... 7:00 AM - Good morning! It's time to rush to the 8:30 A.M class. Sneak into the network to check with any latest announcements for the day. The wired campus will almost make any individual redundant (except for the wake-up calls). With Omelette sandwich in one hand and book in the other, followed by NITIEs’ super seniors or loyal patrol guards we rush for the 96 steps of success, a daily workout to keep in check the health of NITIZan and a way to reach the holy syndicate (our classroom).
The Day was 6 June 2018, Interviews of different B-Schools were over and I was eagerly waiting for results. With the FIFA World Cup fever going on I was out playing football with my friends. It was halftime when I got a call from my friend saying results are out. I was tired and anxious, my heart was pounding just thinking what may be the outcome of the result. I opened my mailbox and there it was IIM Visakhapatnam mail.
I woke up a little early that day keeping in mind that I have to present myself better in the class of Business Communication. I took a little extra effort that day to get ready. I trimmed my beard neatly, wore a nice crisp shirt and styled my hair to look a part of the professional crowd that would be expected of a future business manager. I reached my class earlier than many and sat in anticipation of what would be expected in this class.
For any individual interested in management, getting into IIM is a dream come true. Fortunately for me I had the luck of getting selected in two IIM’s. But, I choose IIM VISAKHAPATNAM. The first thing that got me interested in IIMV is that it is mentored by IIMB, which is well know for its own perks and reputation. Most of the faculty in IIMV are from IIM’s themselves, which is good since they can relate to students and help us improve. The behavior of the administrative staff is top notch. I never expected that kind of treatment from an administrative staff which I received during my interview.
