16th June 2017 9:42, this was when I embarked on this journey to be called as a “manager”. Coming fresh from college, there were so many bubbles about the “MBA life” and “the experience” that I had heard. Two years more for a person already studying for the past eighteen years was never exciting though! I had always expected a serene campus to be the crux of my ideal college with a couple of interesting friends as toppings. From the very first day, this campus changed my view of idealism to “there is more to it than you can see”.
A B-School is the one place where one finds a diverse range of students coming from different educational backgrounds, culture, location and much more. My classroom is no exception. Within a fortnight of introduction to MBA life, the crazy batchmates showed glimpses of their craziness.
Whenever we hear about a topic of what are that things that make my campus so unique; the things that strike through our minds are: serenity, tranquillity, marvellous infrastructure and what not. But, I feel that there is nothing so special about the surrounding and infrastructure that can stand out and make a campus unique. It is all and the same in the other college campuses as well.
When I was mulling about what course to pursue and in which institution, after my initial job experience at Infosys, I couldn't think of anything else but XAHR. The institution not only carries off Xavier's brand with aplomb, but also has carved out a niche for itself within a short period of it's coming into being. The quality of faculties, the remarkable facilities, the newly created campus, made my resolve stronger to get into this institution of repute. After having taken admission here I had a feeling that "I have arrived". What made the campus unique so far as a learning experience is concerned is that it gave me an opportunity to interact and learn from students pursuing a host of other streams which would enrich my experience and knowledge appetite still further. The well-equipped library, comfortable and safe living in the hostel, extremely neat and tidy campus upkeep and recreational facilities fulfilled the need for a holistic environment to pursue academic and learning experience. To top it all, the reputed companies who were hiring students from XAHR provided opportunities to the alumni’s to get the jobs that they dreamt and deserved. The most striking thing that I observed is the scope for personality development which is the key to prepare a manager to excel in an industry environment. The importance of communication skills which is so very essential in today's world is also taken care of during multiple sessions. Moreover, the involvement of seniors, who already have one year experience of being in XAHR and who are at the threshold of remarkable careers in various organizations and industries are always available as intermediate mentors fulfilling the need for constant guidance and encouragement of fresh students. The settings of the serene green environment surrounding the campus whet up your appetite for learning and feeling good about being in the XAHR premises. To summarise, XAHR is one stop solution for learning, getting prepared for a challenging career, personality development as well as a great memorable experience before a much-coveted degree.
Scribbling papers, rubbing pens, mugging up formulas and what not we have gone through to get into a B-school. So it is obvious after burning midnight lamps, we would surely choose a campus which sets its own standard and has its own charm. Yes, XAHR it is. A campus which has a blend of serenity, enthusiasm, and romanticism and last but not the least it’s a knowledge hub. As you enter the campus, a fresh smell of greenery would provoke you to feel the freshness of starting a new phase of your life. Going further, your jaws drop down seeing the gigantic area the campus is occupying. The artistically furnished academic blocks with the church nearby would give a holy start towards your new journey. Going ahead, you find large courts for various outdoor games and the well-equipped and maintained hostels. People usually grumble when asked about the hostel mess food, but Xavier provides food of optimal quality. There are many other food outlets to calm the empty stomachs. Coming to academics and professionalism, Students are given utmost exposure to face the corporate world and are given the apt knowledge about the industry interface. The faculties are masters in their own subjects, with much experience in teaching and training students. They set the curriculum in such a manner that a student gets an all-around knowledge about the subjects. They are very much obliging in nature and thus students can easily approach them. A full-fledged library is a storehouse of varieties of books and research papers. The campus hosts a number of committees which are fully student-driven, and they give a platform to showcase your talents. XAHR not only equips and educates you well but leaves an imprint on your minds with its high cultural and social values. I am fortunate enough to be in this charismatic campus, and looking forward to my journey here for the next two years.
As said by Camille Pissarro, “Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing." This saying can very well be aligned with my judgement to choose Xavier School of Human Resource Management (XAHR) as the college to fulfil my dreams of becoming an HR manager. The college is situated far away from the hustle and bustle of the city life which makes the surrounding even more serene. It is a new place for me but I believe in the saying that every new place has a new horizon. The best part of XAHR is that the values and education imparted are driven by the force of MAGIS. It is a new place for me but I believe in the saying that every new place has a new horizon. And XAHR is known to provide the required boost to every student to reach that horizon.
Crazy?
Some may never live, but crazy never die. – Hunter S. Thompson
There is one character common in all my below batch mates all are happy and smiling even in the worst times.
You leave your work life; enter the business school of your dreams after being away from college life for almost 4 years. You reach for induction and know no one around, you are standing alone and in a moment better sense prevails, you decide to go ahead and say a jovial Hello! to everyone around. Then you realize, it was that easy to be familiar with your peers around. You think, well the first step went well.
