IIM Raipur - An Amazing Experience

So, it all started with a dream; the dream to conquer one of India's toughest competitive exam, the 'Common Aptitude Test', more popularly known as the "CAT". Well, belling this big fat 'CAT' was no mean feat! With months of honing my problem-solving abilities and scores of the online test, I managed to get a decent 97%ile. I was ecstatic! In a few days, my dream was turning into reality. I started getting calls from India's most prestigious B-schools like IIM's & MDI. But the work was only half done now. What was about to come was even more challenging; 'the interviews'. But with patience and perseverance, I somehow left a mark on my Interviewers and converted some of India's top B-schools like IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, MDI Gurgaon and so on. But the institute which I chose was Indian Institute of Management, Raipur. I can't put into words how amazing this place is not just in terms of learning but overall development as well!

JBIMS - A Humble And An Honest Plan

‘Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it’ as reassuring as this statement sounds in the context of the dark times being faced by Harry Potter and company, one could safely say there could have been no other statement which could come close to it. That was my belief too until it was Day 2 of the induction program at JBIMS. It was the to be director addressing our batch, clearly laying out the high level of expectations institute has formed us and giving a short description of how busy our lives were going to be for next 2 years. 10 pre-joining assignments, 17 hours of Day 1 sessions and just 3 hours of sleep later one could already imagine the challenges that lay ahead, on top of that the high-performance expectations and an official mandate on their delivery were not really helping one to feel confident. Believe me when you are sitting amidst those top 0.1 percentile, thinking of your excellent score and stellar past achievements isn’t the best way either to feel confident about yourselves. The sea of feelings in my heart was nothing short of what Harry feels facing those fatal challenges. However, it was that instant, our professor was closing her address, that I found the statement more reassuring than Dumbledore’s. She said and true to her words ‘Honesty is always appreciated at Bajaj’.

Not Just Memorable But A Productive Session At JBIMS

When asked to write a memorable experience the first thing which came into my mind was the session conducted by Mr. Chandru Chawla (Head of Cipla new ventures). Now you will ask what made it so memorable, it was the time of summer placement and many companies were coming to the campus, where they were explaining about the company culture and the different roles which they offer but when Cipla came to the campus the classroom environment was completely different. Rather than going for the traditional ways, Mr. Chandru Chawla went on to explain about the pharmaceutical industry and the class was taking an interest like never before. We were not just interacting but also enjoying the session, he went on to explain about the history of the pharmaceutical sector, government regulations, the health sector of the country, and the problems faced by this industry. It was so interactive that the class was even giving solutions to the problems faced by the pharmaceutical industry and Mr. Chawla was quite happy with the solutions put down by the class and even said that they were quite realistic and can be implemented which was a bonus for us. One thing I remember is that every single individual from the batch of 140 students had contributed to the discussion. After the session, one thing I can tell you is that I have never witnessed a more productive classroom session in all my schooling years. It was not just the interaction which made the whole session interesting but also the kind of personality Mr. Chawla has, it did have a long-lasting impact on the whole batch. I will definitely wish that companies should try to make such sessions more and more interesting by thinking out of the box and leave a long lasting impact on the students.
