Nestled in 550 acres of verdant lush greenery is the top ranked Indian University known not only in India but across the world for its path-breaking research and the exceptionally talented alums that it has produced. Being in IIT Bombay, you never know the person who is walking next to you might become the CEO of the next big company. There seems to be a constant vibe running through the campus that forces you to push yourself and try out things that you haven’t considered doing before.
The college is not only about students doing well in academics but also about learning life skills such as time management, prioritising and understanding one’s true potential. The campus is dotted with posters of myriad events taking place each day. As we say in a democracy- of the people, by the people and for the people; all major processes of the college are handled by students. One can be a part of the student council, hostel council, sports teams, and be with the best of the best. There is so much to do, and such a vast array of choices, from sports, culturals, to entrepreneurship and learning languages etc. that time management becomes a major factor. Students learn to motivate themselves, organise themselves and gain a deep sense of understanding through exposure. While working on numerous assignments and competitions, multiple ideas and brains, collide, and by brainstorming solutions arise that often surprise one's own self. The learning curve is brilliant. The campus offers its students trust, freedom and numerous opportunities. This makes the campus unique and a joy to be a part of.
One major thing that you learn in a B-school is to rise above silo domains and look at situations from all facets. I would like to highlight one such experience, which was very basic but all the discussions that we had were very interesting.
What makes my campus unique?
After shifting to campus life again from a corporate life of 3 years at Infosys, the first thing here at SJMSOM that attracted me was the campus of IIT Bombay. I remember my initial reaction during the interview process – “It’s huge!”. True to its brand name, it remains active throughout the day and night. The first thing I’m going to highlight is the sports culture prevalent here.
