What Makes IIM Indore Unique! - Kartheepan Kannan

There are some things other than sleepless nights which makes every planet-I inhabitant feel blessed. The beauty of the campus is one which tops the list. The campus is spread over 193 acres over a small hill. At nights the sky and city lights are mesmerizing. From seeing the sunrise while you jog in the cricket stadium, watching sunset from sunset point, walk around the academic block during sunset, long night walks around campus, swimming while it rains and enjoying the beauty of the campus and Indore city at night from D-block terrace are some of my favorite activities at the castle on the hill. Yeah, 'Castle on the Hill' is what we call IIM Indore and it justifies the name. These are some memories which will standout even after years. IIM Indore is also enriched with different species of birds which acts as an extra incentive to wake up in the morning for a jog and it also eases the pain of walking up the hill for classes.

A beautiful hillock surrounded by an abundance of green and golden sunshine with purple skies; that was my first impression of the “castle on the hill”. And like a real castle, the campus welcomed me with knights (security guards) and long snake ways, which ran to the top of the hill. At once my anxieties about my future (read: placements, academics) were forgotten. This castle never seems to amaze me even today, as I complete one whole year of adventurous MBA life. Its scenic beauty is unparalleled. The campus boasts of more than 20 variety of flora as well as 80 species of avifauna, not to forget beloved humans (students) who hail from all parts of the country. This place is a photographer’s delight. And as one of the photography enthusiasts, I find every nook and corner of my campus engaging. Sunset is my favourite time of the day, which helps me relax after an arduous academic schedule. All in all, IIM Indore has the most stunning campus in India.

A Run Through IIM Indore - Divya Dalal

A Run Through IIM Indore - Divya Dalal

It begins with some stretching outside the girl’s hostel, where the big beautiful palm trees sway in the cool breeze, blissfully unaware of the chaotic life of those around. As soon as you start your run, you get a whiff of the warm evening snacks from the mess, tempting you to abandon the whole thing and eat! But when you see the majestic trees with the vibrant red tops on your left, you just know you can’t stop now! You run further and enter the faculty area where you see the families having a wonderful time together, you see little children playing around, you hear their sweet voices over the sound of your own slightly heavy breath, and you smile. You feel refreshed seeing families, seeing stability and warmth after the contrasting fast college life you experience every other minute. A little more trudging along gets you to the snake road, twisty and turny with lush green trees on either side (and probably actual snakes too!), it takes you to the Sunset Point. The uphill run is rewarded with a breath-taking sight that changes depending on the time you get there. If you’re there in the day, you see the lush green campus beneath you with the bright blue sky above. If you’re there in the evening, then you see the beautiful sunset, the lovely sky with a tinge of orange and red. And, if you’re there in the night, you catch a sight of Indore twinkling beneath you. Running some more gets you to the favourite part of any other runner, the downhill run!! You spread your arms looking at the beautiful sky in front of you, and you run as fast as you can without falling, smiling all the way down; you reach the boy's hostels; with the majestic cricket stadium in front of them. You see your classmates playing football, and you wave at them and carry on down to the grand auditorium where you are welcomed by the sweet-smelling jasmine growing across from the water reservoir; which boasts of a full level during the rains but dries up in despair in the summer. When you’re past the auditorium it gets a little tough, you’ve been running for long, and the road ahead of you is uphill, but you’ve come so far! You plod along and are rewarded by the grand gates of IIM Indore. You turn away from them and see the path ahead; yellow flowers in the middle and green trees on either side, birds chirping, encouraging you to go on, you smile through all the heavy breathing and get back up on the snake road only to be welcomed by the beautiful sight of Sunset Point again. You know you’re going to stop now, you decide to race yourself till the end and reach the stairs you climb for college every day in a time better than yesterday. You race, you run as fast as you can, and you stop at the stairs, breathing heavily. You stretch and relax to the sounds of the mellow Aarti coming from the temple above. Once you get your breath back, you walk at a leisurely pace to the Pi shop and have refreshing coconut water. As you drink it, you think of why the run is worth the effort every day; IIM Indore is a fascinating place, you should look at it, admire it, take it all in every day that you get to, because you can’t find a campus just like IIM Indore anywhere else and one should cherish it every day!

What Makes IIM Indore Unique - Lavanya Mangal

My campus, which is IIM Indore is one of the prettiest campuses in India. Set on a hill, away from the city lights and noise, the campus is lush green and fondly called by the participants as Planet-I. The campus boasts of world-class facilities for the students which include an Olympic–size swimming pool, a sports complex which has courts for all games like Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Basketball, Football etc. The cricket ground is one of the best in Indore, and many state-level and national-level matches are held there. The campus has 18 student residences and faculty residences too. I believe the campus is unique due to the variety of students residing in it, and consequently, the exciting campus life due to that. Throughout the year many regional festivals and events are celebrated with full fervour and excitement. The campus never sleeps and is always buzzing with some activity 24/7.

'Places Are Temporary, But Memories Are Forever' - IIM Indore

This quote aptly captures the importance of memories in our lives. Memories form the building blocks on which our whole lives are built upon. Having an MBA life without the presence of some mind-boggling memory in the classes is almost impossible. One such moment came during our course on “Design Thinking”. We have heard since our childhood that the holy grail of modern education lies in its abilities to redefine the notion of learning. The biggest symbol that we associate with the traditional learning is that of an enclosed room containing some 100 odd benches and a raised platform where a lecturer can come and perform his pedagogy. However, it has constantly been debated that it must be accompanied with a fair share of practical learning to give a wholesome view of the education.
