My campus, which is IIM Indore is one of the prettiest campuses in India. Set on a hill, away from the city lights and noise, the campus is lush green and fondly called by the participants as Planet-I. The campus boasts of world-class facilities for the students which include an Olympic–size swimming pool, a sports complex which has courts for all games like Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Basketball, Football etc. The cricket ground is one of the best in Indore, and many state-level and national-level matches are held there. The campus has 18 student residences and faculty residences too. I believe the campus is unique due to the variety of students residing in it, and consequently, the exciting campus life due to that. Throughout the year many regional festivals and events are celebrated with full fervour and excitement. The campus never sleeps and is always buzzing with some activity 24/7.
A simple day at IIM Indore is similar to that of any other B-school. We are loaded with assignments which need to be submitted before the deadlines. Also, all the lectures require us to be thorough with the readings or else the entire lecture would end up being a huge bouncer. We need to be on our toes all the time as there may be a surprise quiz taken at any time.
The environment here is very competitive. IIM Indore gives more weightage to consistent academic performance while selecting the candidates. So, we are surrounded by college and university toppers coming from different parts of India. You can just imagine the amount of efforts that need to be put in to catch up with them.
So far, my experience in IIM Indore has been pretty good. As a fresher and from an engineering background, I got to learn a lot of business aspects and other terminologies related to management which I would surely not have known otherwise being a techie. Also, there are so many student fests here with IIM Indore boasting of a plethora of clubs and committees carrying out these activities. You could call them a stress buster from the busy schedule. I still can’t believe I have somehow found time to be a part of this committee called ‘CulCom'.
As compared to other IIMs, the best thing I found about IIM Indore is the relationship among students. Usually, in a B-school, you find people interacting (technically called networking) with others only for building a professional relationship. Generally, good friendship doesn’t blossom in a B-school as students are too busy to be good friends. Although there is a huge level of competition at IIM Indore, I don’t find students here too self-centred. There is an overall friendly atmosphere and a good relationship with seniors.
One of the best parts of IIM Indore is the Saturday movie screening. Every new movie release is screened in the auditorium for the students and faculty. Apart from that, we enjoy the presence of two gymnasiums, a night mess, and a crowd-favourite student-run juice centre.
Overall, the journey so far at IIM Indore has been nonetheless exciting for me. Hopefully, I will cherish this journey after two years.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for ABFRL as that company suits my interests. I am majoring in Marketing, and I believe that my most efficient contribution can be to that company. Also, I am a very creative person, and this company would certainly help me use that side if my personality. The company has a brand portfolio of some of the most famous cloth brands like Forever 21, Pantaloons, Loius Phillipe, Van Heusen etc. I have grown up wearing and seeing these brands and working for them would be like a dream come true
