Located at a short distance from the City of Lakes lies the beautiful and serene campus of one of the fastest growing B-Schools in the country, Indian Institute of Management Udaipur. This is the campus which we have chosen as our new abode, and despite only having spent some nominal days in this land, I cannot but agree that I am mesmerised by its architecture.
It's only been a couple of days since I've been a part of the IIM Udaipur family. In this short duration, from the few people I've met I'd like to introduce some of my crazy batch mates.
"Current temperature in Udaipur is 37 degree Celsius. We'll be landing shortly"- the captain of my flight announced and on a fine afternoon, I arrived at the Udaipur airport with 27kg of luggage! Udaipur is quite the same as I pictured about Rajasthan, Rocky Mountains, and significantly less Green. Everywhere its full of sand and definitely not very pleasant environment. The cab driver played a Rajasthani folk song, and while entering in the IIM Udaipur campus through the newly constructed pitch black road, I got mesmerized with the amazing view of the hills, but again, somewhere the Green was missing. Everywhere the grass became golden brown due to the sun, and it was quite depressing. Anyway, the journey of my MBA program begun and barely got any time to roam around. It was quite hard for the first two-three days to get accustomed with IIM culture, but we are getting used to it. We are transforming for sure, and it's not only us, slowly, but certainly, nature is also changing around us. Oh! Yes! It's becoming greener! Every morning when I open my window I can see the whole valley become greener than yesterday. It is truly inspiring to see that the nature around you is getting rich with the green grass and leaves while you are enlightened with new knowledge, then the environment around you is a bonus, and that's what makes our campus unique. Not only the Institution, seniors, all the staff members will welcome you here; you will fill like the nature is also happy about getting you here. You can't find greetings like this everywhere. This campus will surely make you feel better after all the hardship you came through while coming here by changing its color into Green, the color of happiness. It feels like the hills have emotion which is synchronized with the vast diverse mind of the newly joined students. Now I can feel the transformation within myself synchronized with the nature around this campus that transformed! As you become more acquainted with the IIM Udaipur culture, you will feel happy and as you feel happy you will see the surrounding becomes greener as if your happiness is reflecting on the hills, and it is unique that you will definitely find in IIM Udaipur campus. Certainly, our campus is one of a kind. I'm sharing the view from my window of today (12-07-2018), and the day I came here (25-06-2018).
Why and how I chose IIM Udaipur?
IIM Udaipur, a name which is a combination of two words IIM (Indian Institute of Management), a brand for management education in the world and Udaipur, a brand in tourism in the world. So, IIM Udaipur embedding the name of two brand converts in a unique brand in itself. The brand of this institute is reflecting in the campus which is almost 70% completed at site Balicha in Udaipur. This campus is carved out by cutting big mountains, filling valleys which we are not seen in any campuses of IIM even not in IIM Shillong. Hills also surround it and secured by the boundary wall which in itself is the unique thing to do. A boundary wall which constructed on hilly terrain will astound you how this has been built.
The unique thing about the college, it is a question which cannot be easily answered. There is not a single thing which a person wants to tell about, by joining IIMU each and every student experience much uniqueness about the institute. Talking about me, the most unique thing which I found is the transparency, many institute hide or mislead students in many ways.
I am RVS Soumya, a student of PGP 1st year at IIM Udaipur. I would like to introduce myself before telling why and how I chose IIM Udaipur because a person's values, ambitions, and decisions are related to the place he/she decides to be. Fortunately, I lived across different locations in India and explored a lot of things, and it has helped me to build a cosmopolitan view. I have always believed in mutual respect and development; I am ambitious, I set my goals high and try my best to achieve them. I am a creative person, and different arts attract me a lot.
