After having spent an year in b-school and seeing our seniors pass out, all of us do have a fair idea of what to expect in the second year, or atleast that is what we like to believe. Here is my perspective on how I see the second year unfolding. Following is what I expect:
Every year, on 14th June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. This year this auspicious day bought some very proud moments for ECoBiZ Club of IIM Shillong. In an event organized to observe World Blood Donation Day this year, which was organized by Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council in collaboration with Meghalaya Legislative Forum on HIV/AIDS and Licensed Blood Banks, East Khasi Hills District, the ECoBiZ Club of IIM Shillong was felicitated for its continuous and dedicated efforts towards encouraging voluntary blood donation and spreading awareness about the same.
It has been one year into MBA and the journey has been amazing. It feels as if we have always belonged here. MBA is in our talks, on our social network and in our thoughts. As I look back, I find a lot of learnings which I have tried to list below.
“Agar firdaus bar roo-e zameen ast, hameenasto hameenasto hameenast”
It was hyped as Asia’s largest college festival. During those days, IIT Bombay becomes the place where the World wants to be for the best four days of their lives. And finally, as a first year MBA student of Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay, I got a chance to witness this extravaganza. Reached campus on the morning of 20th December in the middle of a semester break because it was time for Mood Indigo 2013!

Many schools out there are as aesthetically gratifying on the outside as they are innovative on the inside, and with their host of top-class facilities these attractive buildings may inspire students to work harder. But IIM Lucknow, not merely aesthetically pleasing, has made it to the list of world’s top 50 most beautiful business schools, securing the 34th position. And does it simply motivate us to study more? Nah, it does a lot more!
A man walks on his hands through the landscape of rural south India while a Tamil prayer runs in the background- words that basically express sincere and deeply felt gratitude of a father for his son’s health to God. That sets the tone of Lifebuoy’s new campaign underscoring a social message that a simple act of hand washing can prevent diseases like diarrhea in areas where medical attention is urgent yet scant -and can thus saves lives. Incidentally the numbers for diarrhea related deaths in Indian villages run into millions.
