With a MICA alum revisiting the campus, and speaking with a current student, we bring you this episode of KYC.

NEEV is the annual corporate and cultural fest of SCMHRD and is India’s 3rd largest B-school festival. Held in December every year, NEEV attracts an audience of over 15,000 people from more than 40+ colleges across the nation. NEEV 2019 marks the 26th year since its inception and continues to provide aspiring corporate professionals and world-class performance artists a stage to showcase their talent. NEEV has had headliners like Kanika Kapoor, Shirley Sethia, and Nikhil D’Souza grace the stage, music sensations like Lost Stories, Zaeden and DJ Shaan perform at the EDM nights and have seen notable personalities like Harsha Bhogle, Kumar Mangal Birla and Aditya Ghosh come as keynote speakers. BNY Mellon, MRF, Reliance Jio, Indian Oil, Emami, Pepsi, VH1 Supersonic, Enchanted Valley Carnival and FC Pune City are some of the prominent brands NEEV is proud to have been associated with in the past. Additionally, NEEV has set precedent for some incredible feats like being the first festival to bring Sunburn to Pune.
Being an engineering student who was preparing for entrance exams, the most important thing that I heard about the MBA is Time Management. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. It’s a whole different ball game in the MBA.
Imagine getting calls from IIM A, IIM B and IIM C. Wait, how? And what next? Well, if you’re lucky enough to get shortlisted for what are probably the top 3 b-schools in India, you have to prepare for the GD-PI rounds next. So how to prepare in such a way that you manage to crack all three b-schools? While a lot depends on your interviewers, you can also take control of some aspects of the GD-PI process and prepare accordingly. What are we talking about? Well, for starters, we’re referring to customising your GD-PI strategy based on the b-schools you’re interviewing for. But in order to do this, you need to know what each b-school expects from students during the interview process, right? Well, meet Aayush Gupta, a BMS student from the Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (DU), Ex Intern at Deloitte and currently set to intern at Strategy &, PwC's consulting arm. Aayush, currently an IIM A student, was lucky enough to be shortlisted for IIM A, IIM B and IIM C. What’s more, he got admission to all 3 b-schools too! Remember the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata? There was always a mention of the sacred guru-shishya (teacher-student) bond. Unfortunately, in those times, the transaction of knowledge was only reserved for people of a certain class and caste. Thankfully, we don’t live in that kind of world anymore. Or do we? While, the number of ST, SC and OBC students is slowly rising in institutes of higher education, the case is not the same for faculty and scholars. In a working paper co-written by Siddharth Joshi (Doctoral Student, IIM B) and Deepak Malghan (Associate Professor, IIM B) titled - Missing Scholars: Social Exclusion at the Indian Institutes of Management, it was found out that, “As of January 2018, of the 642 faculty members across the 13 IIMs, 4 were from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and 1 from the Schedule Tribe (ST) categories.” This report comes as a shock since SCs/STs represent more than a quarter of the country’s population!
