IIM Kozhikode, a proud member of the older IIMs is one of the most premier institutes of India. If you are a B-school aspirant, I am sure you know everything about its ranking and placement statistics. But a college is much more than that. Let me shed some light on things you MIGHT not be knowing about IIMK –
FINERGY, the Finance Club of SIBMB, is the one way stop to multiply your knowledge in the field of Finance and Investment, through synergy and collaboration. It is a club that is open for all finance enthusiasts, be it about sharing financial insights on stock markets or discussing the implications of the macroeconomic factors that govern the financial markets, it ultimately leaves you with a passion and greed to learn more about the dynamics that are involved in the business environment of India, and the world.
It has been almost 6 months here, at SIBM Pune, living the fun, hectic (whichever side of the coin one would want to acknowledge) MBA life. Life runs at 3X here, without any subtitles! There is so much to absorb, it is surprising how much can be accomplished in 24 hours. That is probably what MBA is all about. Sans the management studies, MBA teaches you how to respect time and life. Get ready for some serious introspection, retrospection and a drastic increase in yourself and world awareness in MBA.
It’s 9:30 am. The alarm whirs me awake from a deep slumber. After 4 rounds of having ‘snoozed’ ahead, I finally decide to get myself up. Looking around I see, while one of my roommates is still enjoying his much-deserved rest, the other is already out and about. As is the ritual, a quick prayer goes up and I turn to my phone. Going through all the emails and messages, I forage for the urgent deliverables. Suddenly, a childish glee runs across my face. I recall what awaits me in the next hour— Dean Sir’s lecture on ‘Learning to Learn’. With no time to waste, I spring out and get going.
When I first walked into the lush green campus of TISS Mumbai on a rainy June afternoon (because when is it NOT raining in Mumbai?!), I was convinced this campus was one of Mumbai’s best-kept secrets! Imagine a campus where you hear the sound of birds chirping every morning, a classroom with a view of serene green hills…all this in the heart of Mumbai’s hustle and bustle!
I live a poem featuring all those who vibe and rhyme. And, this phase at IIM Indore has been incessantly adding more excerpts to my rhyme. Life is replete of experiences, that's what is making it count. The happy, tough, dull, frantic, hectic and ecstatic days, each one offering a new opportunity and a fresh perspective to life. Each day, bringing in new realisations and learnings, for some to be learnt and others to be unlearnt. This constant period of perpetual learnings and alternating phase of learning and unlearning drives the life forward moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month and year by year. These moments and days make all the difference and make one's experience at IIM Indore, an inevitable part of one's life.
