From Dosa To Poha : Life At IIM Indore Mumbai

From Dosa To Poha : Life At IIM Indore Mumbai

I converted last minute. I can’t remember half the thoughts I had at the time. I’d grabbed my papers and bid farewell to Kochi on a rainy evening. They’d told me that Mumbai was hot and happening – a melting pot of cultures – a city deliciously wrapped in dreams. It barely mattered to me. To someone whose long-term goal is to run a farm in Iceland, whatever Mumbai had to offer – at least in the context of fun – was inconsequential.

The Wait Is Over - Sports At SPJIMR

Yes!! That’s it!! I made it to one of the best b-schools in India. It was an amazing feeling to go back to studies after almost 3 years into the corporate sector. I was thrilled and ecstatic at the same time as all the hard work and turmoil had paid off and it was time to start a new journey altogether. It was the 20th of June when the classes at SPJIMR were supposed to begin and the entire batch arrived with enthusiasm and expectations for the new journey. The days flew by while we all were busy in following each other like a flock of sheep with umbrellas in our hands and the never-ending rains pouring over us.

Managing Management – My First 45 Days At SPJIMR

Managing Management – My First 45 Days At SPJIMR

June 18, 2018. The day had finally arrived. After over a month of preparation (mostly mental), I came to Andheri with heavy suitcases and an even heavier heart. It was the first time that I was going to stay away from my family, and I had reached peak Taare Zameen Par levels of withdrawal and sadness. There were times when I questioned myself – especially my reason to pursue an MBA. Self-doubt was not something I was not used to, but my reaction for that was the same as everything else - sleep over it, get over it. Little did I know, sleep would be the scarcest commodity in the days to come.

First Time On Stage At XIMB

First Time On Stage At XIMB

On 18th June, 2018 I began my much-awaited journey of pursuing MBA at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar with starry-eyed optimism and unbridled excitement. From the onset of the very first day itself, I realized that this was truly a course like no other. From the pre-course assignments to the model group discussions and case presentations, the first week at XIMB went away in a jiffy. I was suddenly accustomed to the much-heard MBA lifestyle, where no amount of work seemed impossible in a single day itself. Amidst, all the chaos of studies and other co-curricular activities, the inner music aficionado in me wondered, when do we get to explore our hobbies? From a very young age, I had a certain fascination towards performing on stage, it was probably the result of being exposed to the magic and the mania that was “The Beatles”, a little too much. Nevertheless, I had heard a lot about XIMB’s fabled cultural activities and was eagerly awaiting the same.

TISScovering Myself! - 3 Months At TISS Mumbai

TISScovering Myself! - 3 Months At TISS Mumbai

All my life I’ve grown up recognising the synergy between all our lives’ situations and the discourse of social sciences. I’ve always felt no matter what we do, there is always some connection that is fostered with the concepts of the Humanities but the problem arises when we overlook this glaring occurrence or undermine it.   When provided with the option of choosing an institution from among the exceptional b-schools of the country, I cherry-picked TISS, because of its alliance with social science and my aspiration for HR. I always believe that more than anyone in an organisation, HR people should have that humane touch as they are the ones who acquaint with the employees of an organisation.

Admiration Turned Desire For The Stone Walls Of IIM Bangalore

Admiration Turned Desire For The Stone Walls Of IIM Bangalore

I was in the same city as hers for two years, yet never planned to see her. She’s quite famous among my friends; they speak highly of her. I secretly admired her, stalked her online, liked her pictures on FB and followed her updates. The craze she had, I knew it was a farfetched dream to be with her. Still, somewhere deep down, I wanted to take a chance.

Living And Leading The ODCL Journey - TISS Mumbai

Living And Leading The ODCL Journey - TISS Mumbai

The first week of July 2018 broke the dawn of India’s first Master’s program in Organisational Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The MA ODCL is a unique 2-year full-time program offered by School of Management and Labour Studies at TISS. Today, we as a globe are facing a period of unprecedented transformation and our businesses have to think beyond standard models of management to thrive in uncertainties. There is a need to enable the system and its people to promote resilience in organisations while empowering organisations with agility to manage contemporary business realities of Digital, Social and Man-machine interactions. The programme addresses this by nurturing next-generation leaders, who will steer organisations through this transformation and beyond it.
