ABG: Companion On The GO!| Sumit Somalwar, IIFT

I found myself in a bus, on my way to Goa for a quick weekend reunion with my college friends. Anxious and nervous throughout the journey, checking Indian Institute of Foreign Trade’s (IIFT) site multiple times. This was the day, the day where I would knew whether I had made it to the premier institute or not. The bus sailed on the road, indifferent to the roughness and potholes on the road, thanks to Birla Carbon I believe. Finally, the delightful moment, I had made it through. With great excitement I called my parents and they could be part of my happiness thanks to the superior network offered to them by Idea cellular. This good news gave a much needed adrenaline push enabling me to enjoy my holidays to the fullest. Then came the time to prepare for the on boarding and the new journey that awaited me. It was time to dress like a professional, and the only place to have a rich buying experience, Pantaloons and the brand of choice, Peter England. A brand that still instills nostalgia for my father, as he fondly remembers his wedding Peter England Blazer. Even to this day, the Knot on that Peter England Tie is intact, as if it is stuck in the past and failed to keep pace with the world around. The best fabric and the best fashion brands that use it, made this rookie boy emerge as a confident Business School candidate, waiting at the gates of IIFT, ready to enter, learn, prosper and take on the world.

Challenges are a complementary gift of a package called as Life. Everybody in his/her life faces challenges at various stages of life, either be it personal or professional. People generally do step away whenever they see an upcoming challenge, they prefer to be in their comfort zone but the most important point is that one can’t reach the top of the summit by just staring at the foot of the mountain.

Aditya Birla Group, the name says it all. The brand definitely has a journey like no other and has consistently offered innovative products and services from its inception. It’s presence is big not only in my life but in the lives of Indians in general. From installing 1000 biogas plants to vaccinating over 90 million people, Aditya Birla Group has done it all.My life also somewhat revolves around Aditya Birla Group and its products. From starting my day by watching the phone whose screen is made up of Hindalco Aluminum from Hindalco Limited to driving cars made of carbon nanoparticles from Birla Carbon, to going to college which is made of UltraTech cement as a chief component, Aditya Birla Group sums up my life  and how. I still remember it was my parents 25th anniversary and I was out on office emergency to my client location in Hyderabad. But as soon as I finished my work at office, I booked a flight to my home at Kolkata to surprise my parents. But can I go home empty handed when the occasion is such grand? Of course I can’t.As soon as I entered the airport thinking about what can I take for them, the Pantaloons store caught my attention. Pantaloons has been reliable right from my childhood days and I remembered vividly going to shop at Pantaloons with my mom for Durga Pujas which is the most famous festival here in Kolkata. I used to wait for the day to arrive when mom would rake me to Pantaloons and let me shop as much as I want and whatever I want. Those who say something never change, are right. No matter what my friends say, girl friend say or who so ever it might be say, I would always refer to my mom and ask her to chose the best dress for me. I have travelled to almost all parts of the country for my job and the only thing I found constant in all the cities was Pantaloons. I used to go to the trial room and send my mom pictures asking for her confirmation while I called her and told her to be online in Whatsapp and she left her job and sat down to assist me. Every time I came out from the store, she used to say how many more days do I need to assist you? When will you grow up ? Everytime my answer was this is the last time. But the chain continued. This time around although things were different, it was my exam, my moment of truth. I had to shop for my stylist and my dad and I could not consult her as well. I went inside with a lot of courage and bought a Kurti for my mom and a shirt for my dad and got them gift wrapped. I was anxious throughout my journey as to how would she feel after opening this. As soon as I went home, my mom was soo happy to see me that she gave me a tight hug. I told her that surprises are not over yet and I handed her the gift and also the gift to my dad. I told them that they have been my pillar of strength throughout my life and  I just cannot let their special day be boring. As soon as my mom opened the gift, there was joy in her eyes and a huge smile in her face. She loved the dress soo much that she changed it and wore it instantly, held my hand tight and told me – Son,now you wont need me anymore to shop. You have learnt it. Those expressions on the face of my parents were priceless. Thank you Aditya Birla Group, thank you for making our lives soo much better, thank you for giving us such golden moments of joy.

Aditya Birla Group has been an indispensable part of our lives since forever. It has managed to touch millions not just through its products but also through the core values that it follows. Recognised for its integrity, commitment and passion it has influenced so many lives in BIG ways. While the definition of BIG varies, for me it was being connected to my loved ones. Vodafone idea network has been that connecting link that brought plethora of people, far away from their loved ones together. The world is a big and yet such a small and connected place and Aditya Birla Group has made this possible through this network. Big for me is also about living our dreams and living those dreams together. So, even when someone is miles away from people they love, they could still linger their presence over a call. The beauty of getting to hear the voice of people close to us is alpine and can’t be put to words. This is just one of the many ways Aditya Birla group touches lives. And in so many inexplicable ways it continues to be a part of the journey of our lives. The name exemplifies performance, perfection and character. And not just this brand, there are so many others as well. The sheer happiness one experiences after shopping in pantaloons with friends and family is astounding.  This might not be because of something materialistic like clothes, but because of the beatific feeling of being together with friends or family.

What Does Big Mean? | Aishvarya Jain, IIFT

Big is your memories. “Is this me? Me? In a suit, looking professional and beautiful?” These were my thoughts when I tried Allen Solly’s suits for the first time. The feeling of entering a new phase of my life was brought to the center by a beautiful designer suit. How a brand can leave an impact in your life in small moments is amazing. It intrigues me how memories are filled with several brands that are embedded in our life, making our lives better and more comfortable.

“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta This quote by Ibn Battuta, the Moroccan traveller, draws relevance even in the modern world. I love to travel to new places, meet new people and experience new cultures. Roads, bridges, mobility infrastructure play a major role in connecting the unconnected and bringing development into modern world. Thanks to the connectivity, travelling, as a hobby, has become prevalent bringing more and more people under its ambit. Recently I had an opportunity to travel to Leh, in Jammu and Kashmir, which is one of the most picturesque places in India. Leh, in the abode of Himalayas, is home to numerous flora and fauna, and cultures. Such far off places have become accessible thanks to the roadways. Tourism has enhanced in the region owing to the infrastructure thereby facilitating all stakeholders. While in Leh, I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Pangong Lake, Chang la, Khardungla, Lamayuru monastery and Tso Morari. Leh is not only a tourist destination but also a strategically important place with respect to security of our nation. For military purposes also connectivity through roads is highly important as resources need to move fast as per need. As far as locals are concerned, roads are not just paths of connectivity but they connect people thus giving opportunity for social, economic and cultural exchange. Leh being a tourist destination is economic hub of Ladakh area, thereby attracting nearby locals for business. During tourist season, when tourism flourishes nearby population travel to Leh for earning. Thus, roadways play a major role in the life of people of Leh. Aditya Birla’s Ultratech cement and Ready to Mix concrete have been key ingredients in the manufacture of roads and bridges. The contribution of providing high quality products have meant that the infrastructure thus built is of the highest quality, with greater longevity, connecting hearts and minds of people, thus serving best purpose in the society. “Whatever does not kill you, makes you stronger” - Nietzsche

How ABG Became A Part Of My Life - Shivank Goyal, IIFT Delhi

The Aditya Birla Group has been a big part of my life since the beginning. My father wears Louis Phillippe Suits. He told me about the group. The Aditya Birla Group was one of the biggest conglomerates in India with interests in metals, cement, apparels, and financial services. Then during my farewell party of Class 12, my father bought me a Louis Phillippe suit. It was a black suit, which looked really simple and classy. I took a liking to it instantly. That suit has been with me through thick and thin. I have danced, cried, been to parties and interviews in that suit. That suit has been with me through every important juncture in my life. That is why I have such an association with the group.
