The journey of Perseverance

The journey of Perseverance

Life has various phases which you come to know at various point of time. The memories you make along, are both bitter and sweet. The challenges of life are no ordinary as they make you what you are destined to become! Life showed me its rough phase when my father passed away in 12th standard and all I could think of doing was crying. The phase was worsened because of my love life not withstanding at that point of time. But I was determined to make my mother proud and even with a storm of emotions going inside me I focused on my 12th standard and achieved 83.33%, which might not be the best out of me but still it was the best I could do then. I was not a regular speaker and hence the stage fear was prominent in me as well, but after joining college I started participating in various competitions and the fear faded away. I won some and I lost many, but I was getting the fruits in form of my confidence and spontaneity. I never run from responsibilities and when I was entrusted with the responsibility of being the Assistant Contingent Leader of my college team to National Level Financial Festival "Moneta 2016", we won the overall 2nd position in the event and became the first college from Gujarat to hold that trophy. I also joined a product selling company where I thought I would earn some money but that also became a part of the failure wall of my life But I could help few of my friends earn enough from it which was a sweet ending for me for that phase. In all, I have been failing multiple times and winning few times but I make sure that I learn all the time.

Challenging yourself: The only way to grow - Abhishek Sahu, XIMB

Challenging yourself: The only way to grow - Abhishek Sahu, XIMB

Ever since my childhood, I had kind of an inferiority complex and me being introvert and shy added more to it. Whenever I stood before a crowd of people and became a center of attraction, sweat beads would start forming, I would start stammering and babbling nonsense or simply have a nervous breakdown. I had to get over this also to escape the constant taunts of my classmates whenever I was asked to speak something. I thought about getting the help of a professional medical counselor but even after seeking multiple sessions, it didn’t help me. It was then during my graduation that I decided to confront my fears and also took the decision of doing an MBA. I took part in lots of debate competitions and speeches held locally. At night when my hostel was asleep, I would go to the terrace, choose a random topic and looking at my invisible audience, start speaking for as much time as I could. I would fumble a lot in the beginning and words just wouldn’t come out of my mouth most of the time. This practice was occasional at first but turned into a daily habit during the final year of my graduation. In the campus debate competition of my final year, I stood third. The applause, the cheers of the audience and my friends made me believe in myself once again and realize one more thing. Hard work and perseverance are probably the two things that can never be defeated by any force in this world.

Right from my junior college days, I wanted to pursue

Right from my junior college days, I wanted to pursue a post-graduation degree in business and administration. I was really inspired by my uncle who went on to become an entrepreneur by establishing a stable business. I started to prepare for my entrance exams in the 3rd year of my graduation. Everything was going well and I even secured a good percentile which would have ensured my admission into newer IIMs. But the darkest time of my entire life arrived and I lost my father to a major heart attack. My father was the only bread winner in our family and we experienced severe economic strain. This was the time I had to drop my ambition of going for an MBA. This was a very sad moment in my life as I saw my dream drifting apart. But I thought that if there is any chance by which I can pursue my dream, I will give it my best shot. I took up campus placement from my graduation college. The salary was menial but that was the only way I could start to rebuild my family economically. I worked hard at my job and consistently performed well. My finances were becoming stable by the end of third year at my job and this was the time I thought I could again give a shot at the entrance exams and pursue my MBA dream. So I started preparing for the tests along with my civil site job and I again scored a decent percentile which got me into Sydenham Institute of Management where I am living my long awaited dream!!

When I think about Aditya Birla Group, there will not be a single sector where it has not impacted lives in India. Be it the “The Engineer’s Choice” cement (Ultratech Cement) or housing my favourite brands Peter England, Allen Solly and People, ABG has certainly impacted so much “jo badal de aapki duniya” (Idea Cellular). And needless to say Birla Sun Life is helping us and our families where we need the most with its Insurance and Asset Management units. My smartphone glass, the tyres on my motorcycle, the railway I have been travelling since birth, the clothing I wear, and the difference that ABG makes to the community, can there be anything making a bigger difference in someone’s life?

Aditya Birla Group – Big part in our life. SCMHRD

I was shocked to realize that Aditya Birla Group is a big part of our life.  From cement to Textile, From Carbon Black to Aluminum products, From insulators to copper manufacturing, From Financial services to telecom services. The list goes on. I remember when I first wore business formals in Van-Heusen showroom the feeling was amazing. My half the wardrobe is filled with Allen-Solly, Peter England, Van-Heusen, Louis Philippe. Pantaloons is my go to place to buy clothes for my birthday. I remember when our house is built there used to be lot of bags of ultra-tech cement which are piled up. Idea is the first network my mom used over 10 years ago and still she is using it, we don’t feel alone when I am away from my family. Carbon Black is used in tyres of cars which I love to ride in. Hindalco manufactures aluminum which is used for as simple as foil wraps to manufacturing cars. Financial Services helps as feel safe by providing Insurance to our family. It is also in agri-business helping farmers by manufacturing fertilizers so that the crop grows well and we get good and nutritious grains and vegetables. It is enrooted in every part of my life.
