I have always been a choosy person when it comes to buying clothes for myself or for anyone I know. Even when I was a kid, I used to give my parents a headache when buying clothes for me. So when I started to buy my own I came to know about the various fashions and also the prices associated with it. This is where my saviour comes in. Overcoming everyday obstacles with the Aditya Birla Group- Yash Ranjan Mohapatra, XIM, Bhubaneswar
The Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. It was founded in the year 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. Presently it is the third largest private Indian conglomerate with a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion and it operates in 35 countries around the globe with more than 1,20,000 people in its employee base. The group has diversified interests in the field of viscose staple fibre, metals, cement, viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. The group is an industry leader in various fields, some noteworthy mentions being, Vodafone-Idea Ltd is the largest telecom operator in India both in terms of subscribers and revenue, the group’s cement business under Ultratech Cement is India’s largest cement company, the group is also the world’s largest manufacturer of carbon black and the largest producer of Viscose staple fibre. From a personal point of view, the Aditya Birla Group has had an impact on my life through various means. Starting with Ultratech Cement, it is the cement used in the construction of my family home. My home has stood tall through various vagaries of nature including the 1999 super cyclone. Coming from an engineering background, I can vouch for it being the “Engineer’s choice“. Talking about its telecom services, being an active Vodafone-Idea subscriber, I can say with absolute conviction that the group has been a frontrunner in improving the quality of services across the nation. One thing I want to give special emphasis on is the impact of cyclone “Fani” on Odisha. During that time electricity supply was cut off for about 10 days and we were going through a lot of hardships in my locality. But there was some solace that came our way in the form of undisrupted network connectivity by Vodafone-Idea. It helped us to reach out to our near and dear ones during those trying times. Apart from this, my family has benefitted immensely through the Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance as it has helped us to secure our future. My parents are absolutely satisfied with the terms and conditions of the policies that they have invested in under the Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL) and I am next in line to join them. I would also like to share my experience of shopping at Pantaloons, where in I can find the best of products for the most affordable prices. Whenever I have shopped at any Pantaloons outlet, I have always felt that I have got better deals than I could have got shopping anywhere else. Right from the day I was born, I’ve never faced a want for anything in my life. Everything I ever needed, my parents ensured I had that in my possession. So, in a way, I had been kept in a very safe and secure environment by my parents. But there have been instances when I had to face a few challenges on my own. One of the biggest challenge I used to face every day was “change”. I am not sure why I had such a big problem with something new coming into my life, but I felt averse when I had to adapt to anything new happening in my life. I used to get scared and worried about very ordinary things, simply because they were happening with me for the very first time. I used to feel suffocated when I was laden with anything remotely associated with a change. Starting from using a new toothbrush to making new friends, I had a problem with everything. This phenomenon created a very negative impact on my personality. I slowly started becoming reluctant to try out anything new. Finally the day came when I joined my engineering college and that was the most difficult day of life because in a way I was giving up on my old my life and getting into a new one. I thought I could never be able to adjust to hostel life, considering it was the first time I was staying in a hostel. But something was different this time. This time around I was not alone in my struggles, all my batch mates were going through the same struggles and I realized that I was not the only one in my world who had to face problems. This led me to see things through a different perspective. For the first time I was not looking at the problem, I was looking for ways to solve it. Slowly but surely I had started on a path of self correction and this led me to believe that I can adapt to anything that life throws my way. Thus, I overcame the biggest challenge of my life by simply empathizing with my friends and trying to understand how they looked at different situations. So today when I’m faced with any adversity I just look at it from a perspective where I’m not a victim to it and that helps me to overcome it without much of a hassle. #ABGLP #ABGWOOME #XIMB
