‘ADITYA BIRLA’, just like the name suggests has been like the sun, spreading its light worldwide. Established by Shri Shiv Narayan Birla, has grown multi-folds from a simple trading unit. Ranked amongst the top companies, The Aditya Birla group cannot be bound by words, and has become a feeling, rather an expression in all our lives. There are multiple sectors that the Birla’s have managed to excel in, but the one that managed to leave a significant mark on my life was when the Birla group entered the fashion retail industry.

Why Aditya Birla Group is big in our lives?

Aditya Birla Group (ABG) is the third largest Indian private sector conglomerate that has been exceling for past 162 years with around 1.2 lakh people working with them. They have around 30 plus companies in different industries under them that are spread in 35 countries across the globe. The industries included are metals, cement, viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. Needless to say we encounter them in our day to day life N number of times.  

Overcoming challenges, the ABG way

“You are born to experience situations in your life”. Taking expert advice is the shortest route to success, you won’t get the taste of experiencing the unexpected results that come in your way. This is the strategy that I follow even now, started way back in my Standard 12th. I never thought of the type of challenges that come in my way, just experience it, fail once, twice, learn from those and then retry it. Don’t get depressed by the failures. It’s a part of one’s learning. Let people laugh at you. There were many instances where I took a decision where people laughed. One of such decision is to quit the previous job and go for higher studies. It may sound normal, but the situation was not so. I had only one month to prepare for my competitive exam and I had zero knowledge about the same. I had a vision in my mind and the path was too risky. I failed in my mocks, learnt from it and finally cracked the exam to enter into MBA world. The biggest challenge that one face while achieving his/her ambition is the type of surrounding in which he/she resides. The world is full of negative minded people who try to drag you down, try to dodge these people, and it clears 50% of your success path. Hence, according to me, taking advice from people around me is least of my concern. I always believe in taking wise decisions and experiencing the obstacles that comes my way, to get the taste of success.

As a kid, you never know what is happening around you. You just observe things and feel happy about it. You never know what a particular thing is meant to be. You just live your life to the fullest because you do not care about anything. You watch TV, go outside with your parents, play with your friends etc. All your observations get stored in your brain as a form of memories and you just recollect them when you grow up.

Waking up with a cheerful smile and checking my messages I received on my phone, I started planning for the day. It was my second day at IIM Sirmaur campus and I was both excited and confused about this newness in life.

It was time to drift apart. Was really difficult to believe that in just a couple of days, the friends who have been family for 4 years, will move into different cities with different agendas. Some will make sure that they are in touch, some will not bother to contact. What will stay is the memories we cherished in those golden years. The long awaited night was just a week away. Everyone was busy in preparations for the farewell. Juniors were practicing for the performances; seniors were busy buying nice attire for the night. Everyone wanted to make sure that they give their best. I checked my cupboard to figure out what will suit me the best. To my astonishment, I had no formals that would fit the requirements of the dress code. I realized that it was high time and something has to be ordered. I surfed through major online platforms for men formal wear. I surfed Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon, paytm. Nothing could ease my anxiety for a branded Shirt and a formal pant. After an hour of toil, I came across an offer on paytm which gave a cashback on Peter England trouser. The trouser was really awesome. It was dark blue and I purchased it at first sight. The price was also in my budget. I ordered it. I was tired then and I slept. The shirt was left to be bought. After 3-4 days I planned to go out with my parents to market to buy a decent Shirt for me for the farewell. I really wanted to get an attractive one because firstly, the photographs clicked on farewell will remain forever and secondly, I really wanted to look good. I went into all the major clothing brands. However, only Peter England could satisfy for what I was looking for. I looked awesome in the shirt. That day I developed a special affection for the brand. I was dressed with Peter England in my farewell and praised by many. The night was really special to me and the brand added stars to it. This is how ABG has made a major difference in my life. It could have been incomplete without Peter England.
