What would have otherwise been a normal business day had soon turned out be a monumental one in the Indian Banking sector. Aditya Birla Group with its payments bank (Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank Ltd) had commenced operations. For me, I still remember vividly, it was a day of jubilation, as the one brand that I had always associated with integrity and good character had now forayed into the banking space. With brands in the carbon black, cement, fashion, financial services, metals, textiles, and chemicals, Aditya Birla Group has been one of the backbones of the Indian economy since independence, ever since our forefathers laid out the foundations for an independent India and unlike many others, the Aditya Birla Group has always stayed true to the values it identifies as the “Power of 5”.

Everyday life is filled with odds and challenges. One such challenge which I faced early in life was not able to speak properly. I joined school early when I was 1.75 years old as per the doctor’s advice that I will learn to speak after seeing other kids’ speaking patterns. I started speaking after watching others, but I started stammering while speaking during my third standard. I didn’t give up on myself, I started analyzing people’s pronunciation and the way they make the sound while speaking. Due to my continuous efforts and support from parents, I started to speak properly during my seventh standard. Everything was going fine but one day, I wanted to participate in the Debate Competition organized by the literary society of my school. I registered for the event and prepared on the topic Kamaraj, who was also known as King Maker. My turn came, I started to speak in front of 300 students of my batch. I started on a good note but after 20 seconds, I started stammering in front of the audience and got ridiculed by them. I decided, one day I will gain the skills to participate in Public speaking and debates. Times passed, I finished Engineering and joined Wipro Technologies. In our company, I came to know about Toastmasters club in our office. I joined the club and in the first meeting itself, I was asked to give an impromptu speech on Favorite day in my life. I tried but I started stammering in the middle and ended my speech. After the incident, I started seeing Public Speaking videos, read books to overcome stage fear and got support from fellow Toastmasters. The day came, I was given an impromptu topic on my engineering life, I aced it and got the Best Table topic of the day award. Then I started participating in debates and one of the best compliments I received was during my Personal Interview at MDI, the Professor appreciated my debating skills which I showcased during the GD Round. There is a popular saying, If you try touching the moon, at least you can touch the stars, I beg to differ from this. I like to say, If you try touching the moon, you will even touch the Mars one day.
