You must have come across your parents say- “Padh lo, tum Kisi Tata ya Birla ki family se nahi ho”. (Go and study, you are not from the Tata’s or Birla’s family). I don’t have a count on how many times have I heard this statement in life. Probably I was so small when I first heard this statement that I did not even realize that these are two big names who have created a history and continue to give us testimonies of their achievements. Yes, that’s how I got to know that there’s something called as Tata and there’s something called as Birla and that they have really made a great deal.

Disrupting the Stereotypes

Aditya Birla Group has contributed in some way or other in my day to day life. Consciously or subconsciously I have used a lot of product that is actually manufactured by Aditya Birla Group. The presence of the group is massive across different sectors like manufacturing industry, retail sector, mining, telecom services, financial services, fashion, fertilizers etc. It is the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate with a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018.

ABG takes tremendous pain to make sure its commercials are clean and family-friendly in an expletive-ridden Ad-space. Also, its offerings are known for their classiness and reliability.

Part A:  Just as the Hindi word ‘Aditya’ means the sun, the Aditya Birla Group holds no less significance in our lives than the mighty sun itself. It would not be incorrect to say that like the first rays of the sun touch the horizon only to light up the sky, the group too has lit up the lives of the people of the Indian subcontinent. With their extremely well-known brands that prevail in all sectors, ranging from fashion to infrastructure and even telecommunication, Aditya Birla Group has brought smiles on millions of faces, mine being one of them. As I trace my journey from my formative years to my present, I see that the group has always played an indispensable part in my success. From buying my first formal suit from Van Heusen, which helped me get through the interview process at IMT Ghaziabad to buying my favourite dress from Forever 21, this multinational conglomerate has always had an undeniable presence in my life. Being here at IMT Ghaziabad, I make sure that I stay in constant touch with my family and Vodafone Idea Limited has certainly made it an extremely convenient process. Moreover, I sit comfortably in my hostel room knowing that my family is safe at home owing to Ultratech cement, which was a key component used in the construction of my house. Thus, I am truly grateful for the presence of Aditya Birla Group in the various markets, as they touch the lives of not just those who are here in the Indian subcontinent but also million others around the globe.

Challenges have away been part of life for everyone, for me, the biggest challenge was to move out of my family business to study for management entrance exams. After my graduation, I'd decided to join my family business before going for an MBA. After two years I realize that it was time to move back to my dream of pursuing a career in management, I had to convince my parents that I wanted to move on to the corporate world and step out of the family business but they wanted me to pursue the family business. After convincing them I had to get myself back into the study mode. It had been a huge challenge as I had been away from academics for 2 years and getting back into the competitive exam environment took me a while, but I was determined to secure my future in a reputed B-school. Hence, I applied full concentration in order to succeed, despite having to attend family business every once in a while, to solve issues of production.
