How I overcame my challenges

How I overcame my challenges

The biggest challenge that I faced do far in life is to over come my fear and join an MBA program after 3 years of working in corporate. I realised the importance of a post graduate program during my work experience. I was a senior automation engineer and I loved my work. I took the decision of preparing for the entrance programs along with my work. 3 months before the start of the exam season, I unfortunately suffered from jaundice and was hospitalized. Even after recovering I was advised to take a lot of rest and avoid any kind of stress. But I did not loose hope and I kept preparing as much as my health allowed along with my office. Towards February I was done with all the exams and I was waiting for interview calls eagerly. I got call from 6 B-Schools and I converted 5. Though I was happy, but now that the time had come, I was afraid of leaving my well-paid job for MBA. My parents had supported me in all my decision and helped me with this one as well. They gave me the support that I needed, and I left my job for MBA. Coming so far, I am happy to have taken that decision and move forward in my career. I am reliving my college days and try to participate in each event in the college ranging from sports, academic, competition etc. I believe that an all-round grooming is required to become a leader. #TAPMI #ABGLPWooMe

The story so far- TAPMI

The story so far- TAPMI

Being a minority is always scary. It becomes a nightmare when you have completed 12 years in an all girl’s convent school and land up in a college where there are only four girls among 72 boys. Such was the gender diversity in my under-graduation college where I was studying to become a power engineer.

This is a story of that time, when I was doing job in a Private Ltd. Company. The company is on a decent position in wind energy sector. I was the site Incharge at that time and the safety and operational responsibility of my team which consisted of 18  members was on my shoulders. During our training days we were taught that no job should be carried out when the wind speed is more than  15m/s , but when I joined my respective site this was not the condition. The blue coloured employees were forced to restore the machine fault in spite of prevailing high wind speed. Working is such condition is very risky safety point of view, due to thunderstorm and high wind velocity there is a risk of high voltage electric shock or an accident which could be fatal. As soon as I took the charge of that Site forced the employees not to climb the machine in such scenario. The productivity of that month felt drastically due to that decision and my manager issued me a warning letter inspite of explaining him the rational behind my decision. I then went to head office and met the DGM of Safety and Security department and explained him the entire scenario. I also met our trainers and took their inputs. After consequent meetings with them a group meeting was organized which included me, my manager, client manager and the Head of Safety and Security dept. My manager accepted that he was under the pressure of clients due to less productivity and used to force blue coloured employee to work in risky work condition. After the meeting he was dismissed with immediate effect and I was promoted to AREA SAFETY MANAGER.

ABG touches millions in the world. It is unlikely that you have never used a product or travelled on a road or visited a site where ABG has not contributed in some way. Its presence in your life is massive. Staring the journey with cotton trading in 1857, first independent movement, and entering in textile business in 1947, Independence of India, ABG has been a part of India’s journey throughout. Its trademark company Grasim is probably the first Indian company launched just after independence is one of the biggest textile company in the world. Aditya Birla Group has helped India grow and compete in the world with its presence in different industries. If this world is considered to be a gigantic tree, then ABG has its presence starting from root till the last leaf of the tree. Idea was the first private telecommunication network which reached out to villages of India.

During my graduation in Andhra Pradesh, I got a campus placement in a Multinational company. Soon after the placement, we were assigned some tasks in the company portal which we cleared them as a group. Since we completed at the earliest, we were placed to Gandhinagar as part of the Initial learning program. Moving to a Heritage city which is far away from home but able to quickly accustom to the work culture. Acclimatized to the new environment of different culture and lifestyle.

Faith-TAPMI (ABGLP)

I spent my childhood in a nonchalance manner like every kid of my community did. Unconcerned and also unacquainted about the real world which was full of struggles and tribulations at every stage. In late teens when I got a glimpse into the real world, in the form of competitive exams conducted for admission into elite universities in India, my protective environment gave me a feeling that I can crack them all.
