I never tell people that I am from Kanpur. Have you been to Kanpur? There are more pigs per kilometer than lamp-posts. I was born in Kanpur and brought up in Faridabad (NCR). Where ever possible, I omit this fact about myself that I have a in-borne “Kanpuria” inside me.

Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful

There were many challenges I faced in life so far. From making friends in school to what career path to choose. The things I learnt by facing all these challenges is to always work hard, be honest with yourself, always think positive, be consistent and make a commitment and dedicate yourself fully towards it. The biggest barrier in achieving success is often ourselves and those around us. Overcoming this first barrier and identifying your challenge is the first step on our road to success.

Shaping Generations, NMIMS MUMBAI

One of India’s largest conglomerates, Aditya Birla Group has humble beginnings that trace back to the year 1857 in the small village of Pilani in Rajasthan when Seth Shiv Narayan Birla ventured into cotton trading. The scions of Seth Shiv Narayan Birla diversified from trading to manufacturing. Till such time, the clan of Marwaris known only as ‘Baniya’, moved out of Rajasthan, became industrialists and aided in nation-building. Each descendant set up is own group and facilities across the country. Finally, consolidation is taking place with the ABG at the helm and the Birla’s are now a name to reckon with in the industrial world by acquiring strategic assets to aid both forward and backward integration. With over 120,000 employees and presence spanning across continents specifically 34 countries, ABG has turned into a global powerhouse. Today, the group has become a massive part of our lives and in all likelihood, there is no single India that has not interacted or used a product under the ABG portfolio.

I GOT PLACED

I GOT PLACED

It had been a grueling few months of group discussions, interviews and rejections. This is a normal day in the life of a B-school student. I was on the verge of giving up and leaving it on God. I had applied for a few companies which were lined up through the next week and that would be our last week before we went off for our winter holidays. I was not too happy about going back home with a burden of failure and tension on my head. My Skype interview for AICL Communications was supposed to happen tomorrow. I had read up about the company and felt prepared but I had no idea consultants like them existed in this world. It was a very interesting company offering good roles in the city that never sleeps. I was determined to get through this one.

How my Internship gave me clarity for my career

How my Internship gave me clarity for my career

Just like any other MBA student majoring in Finance I too aspired for working with a great financial firm honing my skill set and putting my knowledge to test. Also, this experience would have given me the clarity if finance was my cup of tea. After having the taste of one field of finance i.e. Audit during my prior work experience, I wanted to explore other core areas of finance. This spurred me to start my preparation for my Summer Internship Programme (SIP). However, it didn’t take very long for really to hit me; that the kind of preparation one needs to crack a technical round isn’t a cake walk.

ABG- The big 'B' brand of India :Ayush Ranjan, SJMSOM IITB

Would it have been possible to successfully trade in cotton and jute from India during the 1850s? The time when British rule was at its extreme and the East India company wanted to create monopoly in every sector, was it easy to establish any business? But there was a family who accepted this challenge and Seth Shiv Narayan Birla started this empire much before the independence of India. Challenges are something that are very important in our lives and as said by George Patton, “Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory”. And talking about victory, there is no need to write the about the victorious journey of ABG from 1857 to 2019 and continuing.

The Aditya Birla Group is one if the biggest Indian conglomerates that has found its way into almost every sector, be it fashion, financial services or telecom and also has a huge global presence. They have in every aspect lived up to their catchphrase "Taking India to the World" and have certainly pushed India to a position of Industrial relevance globally. I personally have felt that Aditya Birla Group is a very dynamic group that has positioned itself as a modern day business giant with a huge traditional touch to it. This group has personally had a significant impact on my life and I've found a product belonging to Aditya Birla Group wherever I go.
