Being a fresher puts too many questions in your mind regarding your summer internships and placements but as it is rightly said “Hardwork is the key to success” and same was experienced by me when I got the opportunity to intern in Ogilvy. This internship clearly taught me the importance of team work and coordination one requires to have to complete a particular task. I still remember my first day which was filled with curiosity, confusion, nervousness and a lot of excitement. I was amazed by seeing how so many departments come together to make a single commercial. The amount of coordination and trust it requires to work as a team.

I interned in a company called Xpress Minds which is an Edutainment company and Mr. Kunal Sarvakar is the CEO. The company believes in a motive of knowledge revolution and strive to spread it via quizzes, workshops and game shows, apps and books. The company hired 120 interns from various topnotch B-schools and started with their summer internship program called XUberance. The project was simple yet very complex. Zee Entertainment has Quiz game show called Bournvita Quiz Contest, now they are about to come up with Mind Wars which will have 1 crore students participating from 40,000 schools. The idea was to cover each and every part of this country and make students be a part of this knowledge drive.

Journey with the "House of Fragrance" - Summer Intern at McNROE
With 2.5 years of work experience before joining NMIMS Bangalore as a PGDM student and internship experience with Nivea India and McDonald's in Marketing domain while pursuing the PGDM course, I was waiting in the waiting room with my classmates for my turn of group discussion (GD) in the summer internship process of McNROE Consumer Products Pvt. Ltd. (popularly known for their brand WildStone deodorants and perfumes) after a short pre-placement talk by the organization. The GD groups before mine reported a selection rate of 20% (i.e. 2 out of 10 participants) and hopes were very thin. Our group size was 10 and an abstract topic "Air vs Water" was given to us for discussion and to my fortune, I was a little better at articulating abstract topics to the current scenarios in the market. It was a 10-minute discussion with varied opinions and perspectives but my group was good enough in concluding the discussion positively agreeing on single opinion with several add ons and we got the best selection rate of 50%. After GD the interview process was smooth and the questions were basic without much stress or grilling like tell me about yourself, elaborate your experience with Nivea and McDonald's etc. The results were announced quickly after the interview process and my classmate Supratim Dutta who intended to major in Operations domain and myself made through the interview for the summer internship at McNROE.

I got placed in Odessa Technologies for my summer internship. Being a fresher it was my first corporate experience and I loved every bit of it. Having a finance background really helped me in preparing for the group discussions and interviews. The first year of MBA helped me a lot in preparing for my interviews. My first touch point to know the company better was their website. It gave me a good understanding of Odessa's line of business and its products. I interned as a Business Analyst during my stint in Odessa.

And here I was, after clearing three rounds of rigorous group discussion, personal interview, problem solutions and making the cut over 200 other odd students; standing right outside Peninsula Business Park, one of the poshest commercial spaces in South Mumbai, all set to walk into Tata Capital.For me, coming from the world of advertising, a universe full of numbers was quite a leap. But a challenge is never set down in my rule book.
