Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big in My Life

A company which has such a diverse portfolio is bound to have some effect in everybody’s lives. For me, it has been the clothing brands which the Aditya Birla Group has slowly built over the years. Each of these brands caters to a specific need of mine and the best part is they never run out of options, be it casual, semi-formal or formal. My home doesn’t seem hundreds of miles away thanks to the robust connectivity of Vodafone Idea which keeps me close to my parents, relatives and friends. I stay up to date with whatever is happening around the world thanks to the country wide coverage of their mobile internet services. All of their brands reflect the deep-rooted culture which is very much prevalent in the organization. The group comes with a pedigree of more than 150 years which has given them some substance and direction when it comes to risking in an unconventional venture. With inspirational leaders like Kumar Mangalam Birla at the helm, the group is bound to prosper even more in the future and is set to occupy more spheres of our lives.

After my under graduation in engineering, I was privileged to work for an MNC in building material industry, in the marketing team of one of its product vertical. In the office, my interaction was with MBA graduates from different IIMs, who handled other product verticals. My manager too was an IIM alumnus. I could easily figure out the vast gap in knowledge and skills between an engineer and an MBA graduate, while approaching various business problems. It was evident that to progress further in my career I had to learn the nuances of business operations and that too from a premier B-school like IIM. I set my ambitions to prepare for CAT exams and convert calls from IIMs. The journey though wasn’t easy. My job required me to travel a minimum of 15 days a month across India and the pressure of meeting targets at the end of each month did not make it any easier for me in my preparations.  After a typical day of attending to customers, negotiating with vendors, managing the sales team across the country, when I head back to home there isn’t much oxygen left in me to go through the rigour of preparing for CAT.

Growing up around an age where the concept of shopping malls had just started around the small town I grew up in, Pantaloons was the one go to store that offered a joy of an experience. If there was one thing we always thought of whether it was a weekend, festival or just mere monotony was to go and check the new and upcoming styles at Pantaloons. To me it was more than just shopping. It was a way to bond with my mom and aunts, a way to celebrate love. Being from a Defence background, we have lived in government houses around India. But when it came to constructing our own house, the house we built derived its strength from UltraTech cement just like the strength of our bonds. The friends I made living as a defence kid around India, are still the same thanks to my Idea Cellular network. Now no matter what the distance between us, all it's takes is an Idea to keep us closer.

Earlier were the days when we used to carry cash or heavy wallet in our pockets whenever we used to step out, had to pay 5% or 10% of the total amount for fund transfer and had to first deposit money in the mobile wallet in order to pay for the bills, on which we would have earned interest if it were in the bank account instead.
