Doing an MBA in one of the top B-Schools in the country was one of my short-term ambitions in life. Coming from a Tier 3 city in the southern part of the country, an MBA concept was new to my family. After my B.E, I worked in an MNC company like most of the Engineers. I had a strong passion towards management. I had to contribute my entire salary to run my family. I could not enroll for CAT coaching centers like others due to financial constraints. Also, quitting a job and preparing for CAT was never a possible scenario for me as my family was largely dependent on me financially.

Aditya Birla Group has had a profound impact on my life. I have used its products for all my life. One of the most important products that the group has rolled out has been Idea Cellular. I have been using this network for the past 5 years and I can honestly say that the reason that I stuck to it despite easy portability to other networks was its fantastic reception. It had absolutely no network issues while other networks were troubled with frequent call drops. I think that is the reason that it has the maximum subscribers in rural India which prefers performance over shiny things.

A Challenging Instance In My Life - Pratul Sharma, TAPMI

I think the most important thing in life is to set short term goals and then to work towards achieving them with utmost honesty. The above quote is easier said than done with life throwing up so many challenges and situations where we are bound to lose focus and start off track. I experienced it early in life during my under graduation days where I got persuaded with so many distractions and couldn’t focus on academics, the main thing is was there for. I scored were badly in my first term exams and by the time the result was out I was engaged in so many extracurricular activities. My health was not in good condition pertaining to the constant weather change and I already had received a lot of criticism from my parents by not living up to the expectations. The term-2 exams were about to start and entire situation was too difficult to manage. I decided to give my best in everything I was involved no matter what. My human skills came at forte which helped me arranging the study material post that I started studying all night after devoting my time to other activities the entire day. This period of hardship continued for 2 weeks and as they say the end result is as important as the process I got some desired success. I secured top position in my class, published the paper I was working and successfully organized my college cultural fest. That period taught me a lot about time management and I still try to think of it whenever I feel work pressure.

"Congratulations, you are selected" - said the interviewer of TCS. It was indeed a proud and emotional moment for me as I got my first job. Whatever be the reason for my success, I will definitely give a little credit to my lucky charm – my Allen Solly Shirt and my Peter England Blazer. Like me, there are many others who have a story to tell with relation to the brands of Aditya Birla Group. Since 1857, this Indian conglomerate has a vast impact on shaping the lives of many. Not only about the fashion sector, ABG has touched lives through its breakthrough brands like Ultratech Cement, Vodafone-Airtel etc. Today I am studying in a management institute where the hostel rooms are made by Ultratech cement, my phone being operated by Vodafone and my lunch safely packed by FreshPakk the payment of which has been made by APBP. Needless to say, it has transformed the lives of many Indians and their unique brand positioning has benefitted many Indians.

The subsidiary of ABG which fascinates me the most is its cement divison . With the moto of build beautiful we find use of its cement in many constructions we came across in our daily life. There are two instances very special to me one helped me cover my daily hustle with ease, namely the  Delhi Metro and the other is the beautiful dome made of glass reinforced concrete at MIT, Jaipur the entity of university I have been a part of. The list is not exhaustive, UltraTech is the market leader in  cement in terms of capacity and leave behind its competitors by huge margin. UTCL products are used in so many instances, industrial and infrastructure projects, its literary impossible to keep a count. Another reminiscing aspect of encountering ABG is the UltraTech Building Solution outlets, a place where one can find start to end solution for house construction. UltraTech also facilitates training programs for masons, artisans and other stake holders and has its unique set of CSR initiatives which helps in upscaling the economic backward society. It has a pan India presence with its manufacturing units spreads across geographies. The one place where all cricket fans can witness the presence of UltraTech are the boundaries display for cricket matches in India. ABG has a moto to be among top 3 in every industry they are present and UltraTech is certainly living up to the expectation.

Life is not a bed of roses, in fact it has a series of hardships , problems and heartbreaks in its path. What is more important is how an individual overcomes them and fulfill his dreams and desires. Today I am going to take you through my story. I belong to a middle class family in the City of Joy, Kolkata. As the only child of my parents, I was pampered from childhood especially by my mother. My mother was very caring and even gave up her career to ensure I get a good upbringing and focus on my studies. I do not like to study much and for that I received several thrashing from my mother. I was also an introvert who felt shy in interacting with others. While other batchmates had lots of friends in school, I had very very few of them. When I completed my 12th and joined B.Tech, I broke my leg in first year. I was in bed rest for nearly 2 months and my new friends in college whom I hardly knew helped me a lot. I started interacting with them and realised that I can be friendly, I can come out of my introvert nature. I decided to join the public speaking classes of my college and that helped me a lot . I stood for the council elections in 2nd year and won by a huge margin. I was a Class Reperesentative now. I completed my B.Tech and joined TCS and within 2 months, another mishap happened. I was in Ahmedabad during my TCS training when I received the news that my mother succumbed to injuries in a car accident. I was shocked but did not react . I did not let my sorrows vent out, though I felt from inside. I realised its more important to stand by my father who was shattered due to guilt as he was driving the car. After a few days, everything started becoming normal . My father told me my mom always wanted me to pursue MBA. I started preparing alongside my job and finally got admited to TAPMI in 2018. I realized that it is very important to stay strong and determined amidst all the problems in life. I hope I have two great years at TAPMI and get into a company I dream of in a dream role.
