ABG’s impact on my life :
In today’s day and age, brands and their products have a huge impact on our lives. So much so that they even help us shape our lives to a certain extent. My case is no different. I have been exposed to a lot of brands and products in my life, be it through my peers, family, college seniors at IIFT or the celebrities that I follow. Many brands have come and gone at different stages in my life, but one organization, with their seemingly innumerable brands has always been there, all through the course of my journey. It has had a subtle but important impact on my life. People know the company from the wide variety of products they have to offer. Be it textiles, construction or automotive industries they are present all around us with different names and forms. So, by now it is pretty evident, I’m talking about the Aditya Birla Group (ABG).
Aditya Birla Group has been playing a massive role in several major aspects of my life. I remember my school days when I used to wait the entire day long for the recess, craving for the delicious sandwiches and parathas in my ‘dabba’ prepared by my mother. It came wrapped in ‘Freshwrapp’ which took care that I ate only the fresh every time. One of the advertisements of ‘UltraTech Cement’ portraying the story of 2 brothers left a deep impression on my mind. The younger brother out of his passion and determination was able to achieve his dream of building mega structures and ‘UltraTech Cement’ was associated with his success. Through this ad, the message conveying importance of being confident brought about a positive change in me. Being a shopaholic, I never miss a chance to hit the new collections in stores. What can be a better place than ‘Pantaloons’ to meet this end. Continuing from the last seven years, I still love the collection of Polo T-shirts by Bare Denims which I can find easily at Pantaloons. The brand offers premium yet economical clothes. Aditya Birla Group in addition to the above experiences, also has a luck factor attached for me. It was for the selection round at IIFT when I purchased my first formal suit from ‘Louis Philippe’. The extent to which I was nervous on the D-Day can’t be described but I felt that putting on that suit brought confidence and proved to be lucky for me. Since then I have been wearing it to every important event I had in the recent months. That’s how Aditya Birla Group has contributed in my life.
The need of a common-man which correlates with the famous phrase, resonates in my mind: “Roti Kapda aur Maakan”. Aditya Birla Group (ABG) has made its presence felt in fulfilling this basic need of a person. ABG has provided comfort in innumerable ways to the people in fields of insurance, financing and wealth management. Aditya Birla Group has influenced my life right from the childhood in every aspect. Be it the delicious tiffin wrapped in Freshwrapp to buying formals and suits from Van Heusen for my Masters Degree in Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, ABG has left its mark on my life. The joy of shopping in More Super Mart to the fascination of watching how Ultratech cement could bind such a big house, my biggest memories have revolved around ABG. A lot of first time in my life are linked with ABG starting from using my first salary at Pantaloons to buy gifts for my family and More Supermart being my saviour during my first stay away from home. Being a person who genuinely looks to help people in distress, ABG is a perfect role model wherein it starting from the polio campaign to the opening of various medical camps and hospitals to skill training of various people, has touched millions of lives and inspires us to take initiative to help people in possible way. No doubt, Aditya Birla Group is a household name and plays a significant character in small to big stories in a family and in a household.
I was ecstatic after receiving offer letter for MBA IB from IIFT .I had to wrap up from Pune and travel to “City of Joy”-Kolkata which meant I had to buy formal and casual business wear. So obviously my first choice was Pantaloons, what a mesmerizing collection of various brands they have. Brands such as Louis Philippe, VanHeusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, etc. I was amazed to learn that all these brands come under umbrella of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), part of USD 44.3 billion Aditya Birla Group and India’s first billion-dollar pure-play fashion powerhouse.
I am not a traveller by chance, but one with the intent to absorb each second of my journey with my soul. I remember the day I was about to enter the room which would have decided my future, my career path, and my journey itself to the peak of my ambitions. It was my dream MBA college interview, I was high on confidence and as the saying goes
It's been almost two weeks since I arrived in Kolkata to pursue my MBA in International Business from IIFT. This historical city, which is known for its deep roots in culture and literature, is fast developing. One of the many peculiar sights that I observed while commuting on the roads of Kolkata was the undergoing construction of the city's new Metro network. Kolkata metro, one of the oldest in the country, was established using a very renowned and familiar brand, Ultratech Cement, famous for its usage in the construction of the Wankhede Stadium, the Commonwealth Games stadium and many more in the country. This is the very brand used during the construction of my house and the very connection gives me a warm feeling of assurance and trust, knowing that my home shares the same foundation with these mighty structures.
We sometimes underestimate the influence of little things in our lives, We are seasoned to look at the picture as a whole first, then we go into the details. Right from our childhood we subconsciously associate our feelings and emotions with brands through their products and when it comes to Aditya Birla Group whose presence in our life has been massive, the association that we have with the group is also quite intimate. Just like people of the Gotham city have a tendency to overlook the contributions of Batman "The dark knight", we as consumers sometimes do overlook the presence of Aditya Birla group in our life, not knowing how unimaginable it would be for us to survive without the dark knight. The dark knight as mighty as he seems does not even care to be appreciated for his efforts and still continues to serve behind the scenes. The Aditya Birla Group works in 5,000 villages, reaching out to 7.5 million people annually through the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development through which the group provides welfare in health, education, infrastructure and sustainability for our communities. Not just at societal level but also at personal level Aditya Birla Group's influence in our lives cannot be ignored, right from the cellular sim we use to call our dear ones, the material used in manufacturing the phone to the clothes we wear at different occasions and the strong foundation of cement required in building our homes. Aditya Birla Group seems omnipresent in some way or the other through its subsidiaries like Vodafone Idea, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail limited and Grasim textiles. Whereas other subsidiaries like Hindalco and Ultratech cement strengthens the infrastructure of railway and road networks and financial services Aditya Birla Capital enriches the lives of many in our country. I, personally, hustle through the strict rigour of IIFT's MBA (IB) program where every day is a new challenge and I feel blessed to acquire my formal attire from brands like Van Heusen and Louis Philippe whereas, Allen Solly provides me with a wide variety of business casuals.
